Picked this up the other day.
Suspect coil fault.
Do you know what it is I do.
The car looks like an Alvis (Silver Eagle???)

No idea about the ignition problem!
Very close but I'll give you that one.
No idea What a Silver Eagle is.

1934 Alvis FireFly.
Family owned for 50+years.

Wasn't a coil fault unless the one they fitted was faulty as well.

Ah, well, Silver Eagle was very much an educated guess - Alvis did all sorts of models like Silver Eagle, Crested Eagle, Firefly, Firebird, and so on, as well as more conventionally-named ones like the 12/50 or Speed 20. You need to be more of an anorak than me to tell them all apart!

Looks a very nice car anyway :)

That's been there some time. Owner hasn't tried it in the River Seine although it is operational.
Derek
Derek, whereabout is it parked in Paris ?
A friend of mine may be interested in talking to the owner ... he has already tried one of those on the River Loire
- and promised to take me for a "drive" afloat someday (!) - and I wonder if he knows about this one ...
That could make a nice article in his classic car magazine 8)
Cheers,
Fred
Fred, Ronnie asked me to post this...

"The car is along Quai des Tuileries path just after past the Pont Royal bridge.
Ronnie would have let you know Fred but he is currently banned and he has asked me to forward on his behalf."

I have searched on google earth and it is actually Quai des Tuileries just east of Pont de la Concorde.

Thanks Emma & Ronnie,
I can see it on Google's Streetview now, brilliant !
Right at the heart of Paris, just below the Pont de la Concorde
Will pass the information to my journalist friend ;)
Cheers,
Fred

A tidy white K plate Beetle apparently out of fuel in a lay-by near Chipping Norton with a tow strap ready fixed to the bumper. I stopped to offer assistance but there was already someone returning in a series 3 Land Rover with a can of petrol.

This one isn't a Scimitar, although there was a white D-reg SSI there, wish I'd photographed it as well.

That one has also been seen recently by 747Pete on the previous page - it seems to be getting about a bit! :D

The white SS1 wasn't me - mine's an "E" (and it's not very white after my trip up north for Christmas) - I had thought about going to Brooklands, but the weather was a bit grim first thing in the morning, so a lie-in proved irresistible......

I saw that too Phillip. Arrived as the white SS1 was leaving. There was a very tidy red SST (not Graham's) there, and also spotted 'metalmoth's' SE6b, Grahams GTC and a rather modified blue SE5 sporting a large air intake and possibly a small block V8 underneath. Plenty of other cars out too, including some very smart vintage Bentleys etc. Will have to make the effort to go in the GTC next year (rather than a friend's MX5)

in fact, Roger, the weather at Brooklands today was OK. A couple of brief light showers, not too cold and even a bit of sun. Three GTEs present plus our Sabre Six convertible. Amongst the many other interesting cars:-

When I got up, the wind was still howling and the rain lashing on the window. :( It rained most of the morning and was dark and murky, until it finally cleared at lunchtime. More high winds to come in the next few days I think (the joys of living on the coast!)

That Datsun, although rare, isn't quite my cup of tea. The Costin Amigo on the other hand, is certainly a car I could live with! :D

Hi Guy,
The early Bentley turned up shortly before I left, sorry to have missed you.
This was the other photo I took on Monday, just to show how busy it was at Phoenix Green; this is the A30 towards Basingstoke. I can imagine that it won't be long before the Police will step in.

First time I'd been Phillip. I was thinking the same as you about Police stepping in at some point, especially when a nice and expensive Ferrari was parked(!) on the white cross hatching leaving barely enough room for a car to squeeze through along the A30

I popped into Wilson's Auctions today to see what's lying around to find

the Daewoo Musiro https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daewoo_Musiro concept car in a bad way.

And a ropey Nova kitcar equipped with Fiat Coupe light covers.

It seems these are from a haul of cars impounded from some crimelord. WIlson's in Belfast seem to special in disposing of such confiscations as there's less chance of henchmen popping over here to make a thing about it.

I love the Nova kit car. I’ve always wanted one.

A family member built one in the early 70’s. For a 6 year old car nut in a land of drab cars it was the best thing I’d ever laid eyes on

Any more pics of the GTM coupe to the right? That looks a lovely example. :)
