An addition to the list Is the Dome Zero a Japanese late 1970's project with huge pop up's that must have ruined the aero, they also entered Le Mans.

already listed under Nissan Richard :D

Looking back though, Dome were independent at that time, so I’ll move it.

The Autodynamics Hustler. The similarities to a Lotus are deliberate (they made repair panels for Lotus cars in America) but it’s a bit bigger to fit on a beetle floorpan (which of course meant a bigger Porsche or Corvair engine would fit too).

I can’t find any more info on these cars - the Brazilian Miura Sportivo. Obviously on a VW floorpan with air cooled 1600 but also allegedly with Later Passat running gear, a V8 version and even perhaps 3 with Essex V6 to go with the door handles :D

Edit - darn, already here with slightly different spelling

Apparently this is the early version

And this is the later design. Looks like drop down flaps rather than popup lights though?

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that the two pictures of the Ikenga mk1 from page 7 are the same car and it has drop down panels?

this was disallowed after it was pointed out that the lights didn’t actually move, the 1985 FXV moves half of the bonnet along with the lights though 😀

The Warp 8, designed and built on a beetle floorpan, by a bloke called Owen Williams in his shed in the early 70s. The first one came out of the mould badly so was stored while he made another (The bronze one). The moulds were destroyed but years later he sold the failed bodyshell and someone tried building it (the orange one, later black with green stripes). After several owners it was last heard of in Germany. Thread on rodsnsods here

We added a lot of cars early on in this thread without pictures, here’s one of those - the pretty Elva 160 GT. Only 3 coupes built apparently, BMW powered, designed by Fissore.

Meyrignac Coupe
The Meyrignac prototype debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 1977. It was designed and built by Frenchman Denis Meyrignac using a Renault Alpine A110 1600 Berlinette chassis which was covered in a wedge shaped fiberglass body and took It took Meyrignac around three years to build.
Some confusion exists with editorial comment that the car was fitted with a V6 and this may well have been the case with the Geneva Show car, although this created some debate over the chassis used (it is quoted that when he approached Alpine founder Jean Rédélé, was generously gifted an Alpine A110 chassis and running gear on which to build his prototype) and the V6 was on the modified A310 chassis.
The car existed only as a prototype and Meyrignac found work with the Renault Formula 1 team. When Renault Classic discovered that Meyrignac still had his prototype, they offered to restore it and was displayed in 2016.
