Geoff Newcombe certainly believes one of his cars is an ex Royal car - I wonder if he has a V888 or is just going from the extra fittings the car has/had?
Yes TYN was at Curborough last year, it's a car that's always been acknowledged as ex-HRH since I first saw it back in the early/mid '80s (when it was owned by Eddie Shepherd), but I don't know what the actual documentary evidence is. I forgot to ask Geoff, as I was too busy taking photos! :D

I recently sent for the PO information from the DVLA using the forms available on this site. I have just had a reply stating 'I am sorry that I cannot deal with your request ..... as the form you have supplied is now obsolete.' May I suggest that people use the DVLA site to download the application forms V888. Everything else spot-on - many thanks.

I'm not sure why there are 2 links on the page Ian initially linked to - DVLA forms are always changing, so we shouldn't store copies on Scimitarweb?

Agreed, but AFAIK it needs an admin to change it?

Sadly I don't have edit access to that page (Ian - one for you); latest form from the DVLA site here as of 5th Feb 2012...

Same here. Waiting for around a month now. I suppose these requests are at the bottom of their priority list...... :|

both Terry's and cookieboys seemed to take around 7 weeks, previous replies said they take 5-6 weeks, so I'd say you have another month before you can feel hard done by. some Local office responsibilities are moving back to Swansea, so i doubt it'll get any quicker - let's just be thankful that the service is offered because I still don't quite see how it gets around the data protection act!

I never got a reply although cheque was cashed within 2 days.
All my letters asking for an explanation were ignored, gave up.

Roughly two months for mine to show up, not sure what they photocopied it all from but some of it was hardly ledgeable. Probably origional forms badly scanned into their computer for storage and the origionals then distroyed to save paper mountain storage space.

Terry,

Mine was not very readable either. The reason was written on the cover letter "what could be retrieved from deteriorated microfiche records".

To be fair to the DVLA (of whom I'm no a bit fan) who ever dealt with my request highlighted the info I'd asked for.

Got all my requested info back now from the DVLA and I have a wealth of documentation which fills in all the gaps in the car's ownership history. Have now written to all the previous owners for anything I can get my hands on....wish me luck
