Hopefully this will make everyone feel a bit better.

I was fitting the clips that hold the jack handle in the Ti engine bay and had to enlarge the holes to take new rivets. Because they're so flimsy, I clamped it loosely in the vice and supported it underneath to stop it being pushed out. Drill nicely went through the hole and into my finger. The nail stopped it going all the way through.
Needless to say I altered the technique for the other two

Those clips are I believe a source of frustration for many.
Although that takes the biscuit.

other two fingers or holes? ? ? ?

sounds really painful!!

main advantage of an old style hand-operated drill, keeps fingers clear of sharp moving parts :D

I always find that the last thing that goes through my
head before I hurt myself is "I shouldn't be doing this"

My nail saved me from a nasty stanley blade related incident recently
