Post by minibull » Thu Nov 29, 2012 4:02 am

I know that the remanufacture of these was discussed a year or so ago but what was the outcome

Jim
Can I lend my support to giving replacement quarter lights a higher priority, or as might be preferable in the end doing away with them all together by new runners and a reshaped glass. Cheers Chris

It has been some time since this topic has been updated and as my offside frame is ready to break can I as if there is now enough interest in getting either new frames made or replacement sections made? Something in stainless steel, if possible, would be best to keep the rust maggot at bay. I have been hunting for frames for a few months now and the only replies I have seen were that their frames were rotten as well!!!!

I did hear of someone else that was looking into this recently - stainless isn't really an option as it's very expensive and very difficult to work and the originals have two 180 deg folds. I would still like to see composite frames but I think mild steel will satisfy the immediate requirement?

I thought that Viv had had some made in stainless a while back? Hasn't he got them on his Sabre?

My current refurbish requires me to put my frames back, as it was mine that were copied, and I never got got stainless steel ones either. I think it was too difficult to do, ask Viv. Luckily I have new old stock to put in.

quarter frames.

Post by steve bryant » Wed Mar 16, 2016 6:41 pm

i am putting this out there to see what the interest will be.
i am ATTEMPTING to get a chap at work to make quarter window frames in stainless steel for the sabre/ss1 cars, i have removed my stainless set for him to copy and make jigs from.
what you will get is
the front quarter frame painted black
the rear slide channel painted black
all nuts bolts and washers for bolting the set together.

what you will not be getting is
window slide rubbers
glass
shim adjusting plates

the price is still to be decided but i feel sure it will be competative.
all units will be sent to my usual source to distribute
