Original Spec Carpet - furry stuff SE5a

Post by Pepe » Mon May 04, 2015 8:53 pm

Hey guys,

I am looking for original spec Polyester carpet for the SE5a. Mine is black.
It does not seem to be the usual auto carpet stuff, with fibres being very stiff.

I would like to get the stuff on roll to sew them myself and reuse most of the old carpets in the car that are still really good. This would imply they need to be a very close match....

Anybody experience?
Searching the forum did not reveal a good source so far....

Thanks guys...

Christian

Not 100% on this but I think that they all came with wool carpet.

5as did use some polyester type stuff down the sides of the footwells with proper carpet being used for the boot and footwell runners.

I don't know where you'd buy the polyester type and I don't know anyone that's re done their interior with it. Everyone I've seen has used normal carpet.

Hmmm...

This is simply to stay original.
The Polyester (or is it tufted Nylon?!) stuff for everything else then the floors in my GTE is really ok - well, except the footwell corners being worn and through. There are some other rough corners, but these I can clean and potentially recolour.

If I only need to replace the rough stuff, then this is also work saved...

I'll disagree - the same carpet is used all over the 5a so sounds like yours has had the runners and load area replaced already, Josh (as have 2 others of mine).

Closest I can find is something called "Truvette" - possibly?
