SS1 Alloy wheel refurb

Post by reliant-reviver » Mon Jan 23, 2012 7:11 pm

Seeing as I have a mountain of KN "RELIANT" alloy wheels, I have decided I shall get a quantity of them refurbished.

I'm going to get a few sets done for my own needs, but was wondering if anyone out there would like to get in on the action?

I'm suggesting that if you would be interested in purchasing a set outright, then I will add another set into the batch to get along side the 20 or so I'm having done. Once finished, they will be an outright buy. Price, looking at £200 for a set of 5 (that's for purchase of wheels and centre caps, transport to and from refurb place, and a refurb in your choice of colour, along with new valve stems) with them to be collected from me in Reading. Or I can send via courier, at roughly £20.

If you come to collect, I can fit or swap tyres supplied, but not balance them I'm afraid.

Anyone? Lovely set of SS1 bottle cap alloys? They do look nice when in good nick!

I agree; my Ti Kn's cost me £60 a corner to refurb and £40 to swap the tyres.

Plus whatever I paid RR for the wheels in the first place (can't remember how much  )

R-R
did you spot one of the ebay ss1s on currently has what look like 15" cross spokes? im 99% sure they arent the KN 15s like youve got, but a similar design, and gold centres

this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1985-RELIANT- ... 19d1283d12

EDIT

looking at them, only one side are gold, and now not sure they are 15s, may be 14s that look bigger ?!

Pass the tissues....

They've all come out rather nicely.
The Silver ones are spoken for already.
Was disuaded from going for the gold finish on the other 2 sets as it's not so hard wearing. So went with "graphite" instead, and to say i'm pleased is an understatment - think they look awesome 8)

Whilst I have intentions to use both sets, I am open to selling them, there are other options I could go for when the time comes that I have the cars ready for them.

KN Diamonds SS1 1800ti O.E
14x5.5j ET 27
All in good condition before being refurbed, no buckles or cracks. One of them did have a deep curb graze which I smoothed out. It has not affected the wheel in any other way than cosmetically and should be less noticable once the tyre is fitted.
Centre caps refurbed and included, not pictured.
£265 delivered for them

O.Z Ruote 5 spokes '91
VERY rare set of alloys which I've had stashed away for years now. They are from the same era, and of a very similar style to those found on the MK1 Sabre.
Identical dimensions as well of 15x7j with an ET26 offset.
The 4 original centre caps have been refurbed and are included, these are alloy, and much better than the fragile ones found on the Sabre type alloys.
Really good looking wheels, which will bolt straight up to any SS1 or Sabre.
£295 delivered for them.

Should also say I can get further sets of KN "RELIANT" alloys done if needs be, will be heading back to collect the centre caps for the above wheels soon, so idealy will drop off some more alloys for refurb.

Anyone for any KN "RELIANT" alloys once again?
Sets of 4 or 5 wheels avaliable in a variety of colours, £160/£200 outright buy, with new valve stems.

Centre caps I can't supply any more, so this would have to be sourced, but they are only £7.99 delieverd for a set on Ebay.

Hi Phil.

Gave Daniel your e-mail but he says he hasn't had time to contact you  . He is after a set of KN 14x5.5. He wanted used for refurb but these sure look tempting - plus our local powder coater seems to have problems with hi-gloss coating on suspension parts. I now have all my stuff done 'semi-gloss with no undercoat' for maximum endurance. Add to that the non-ferrous surface and it could be a bit of an unknown. Did see a set of wheels on the shelf last time I was there though.

If your patient a set will turn up eventually.
Search terms for you -
O.Z. / OZ
Ruote
Pluton / Pluto

OE Sabre size -
ET26 15x7J

But how far are you prepared to go?

Angular style ET28's in Netherlands

Smooth spoke ET30's in Romania

A word of warning. They are not the strongest wheel out there, so any you do find should be checked closely for flatspots.

Not OE fitment, but period British alloys, in the right size. Et20 is 5mm less than OEM?
