dash top (crash pad ) availability?

Postby darter » Wed Mar 15, 2017 9:16 pm

Hi all, I am relatively new to Scimitars, so still finding out things. I know that warping of crash pad on se6s and gtc se8b is a fairly common problem, I thought I read somewhere that a few foam covered GRP ones had been made? Is this true? Just pondering the best solution to my GTC,s warped dash top (crash pad). I am not new to classic cars I spent 34 years as a pre-war car restorer so (without blowing my own trumpet ) I am fairly confident I will be able to sort it, but always best to get advise from the experienced people in the know Scimitars wise.

Some people remove the dash top and slot the underside in order to flatten it
Not heard of the later cars dash tops being remade personally though
Blessed are the Cheese makers

Better to be an hour early than 1 minute late

I have a perfect SE6 dash top if anyone wants to make a mould to re-manufacture these as I know they are very hard to come by. I've owned my Scimitar now for 14 years and only ever seen one straight dash top for sale, that's why I bought it.
