Nice one Viv!

Is it the car that was/is supposed to be for sale in Tessin (Swizzerland), I haven't had time to chase that up?

Chris,
Nope - this was found on a pallet in an Industrial Unit in Cardiff (Thanks Jim !). I bought it unseen under the assumption I was buying just the Mk2 Body (which I prefer to the Mk1) and when I arrived the guy kept adding more bits to my trailer with his Forklift (eg. brand new Rad/Engine/Doors/Boot/Body was already fitted to a brand new Chassis/Etc./Etc..). I eventually managed to drive home very very slowly (ie. max 40-45mph) to Portsmouth as I was pulling all this with my 72 Se5a (1150KG) and a large double axle trailer (5-600Kg) + about 1300KGs of Bits. It was a journey I did not enjoy nor will I repeat. I'm hoping to start on the build soon after Curbs this year.
Regards,
Viv

It was the find of the century - an unbuilt mk2 on a new galv chassis (presumably bought from GW?) but the owner had bought an SS1 with plans to use the running gear and registration on the Sabre. I had to pass it on as I didn't have room :-( much the same as SS1 chassis #001 :-)

Those pics are great BTW Chris - don't suppose the paperwork shows any chassis numbers? :-)

Sorry, no chassis numbers, I think you would need a copy of Bonauto's accounting books for that - and they sold wholesale throughout northern Europe, not just in Swizzerland.

Today's installment is an enthusiastic road test press cutting - but I don't know from which journal!

Not much left in the file as a lot of the material is just UK market stuff.
If you're intelligent enough to buy a British car then you are intelligent enough to learn the language that goes with it (?)

Here's the Owners Info pack - in english with swiss stickers!
Everything that was produced in french/german was done by the importers Bonauto (italian ...)
The swiss market is very complicated.

I'll start a new thread after this to update on current swiss cars.

Random bump :-)

Any more progress on this Chris? I was asked how many mk2 Sabres there were the other day and automatically replied "about 100" when I remembered this thread.

No, I asked Bonauto about the unsold car but they didn't know, and there is currently no Fiat dealer in Chiasso.
And I still have only one Swiss Sabre on file, spotted in Graubunden ...

Hello Chris,

How about Hans' Sabre ? Is it a different series :? (looks very similar to the yellow one above :D )
I remember Hans telling us that it was one of the few that were used for the homologation of the model in Switzerland,
and that his club managed to purchase one from the dealer - many years after the car had been waiting in a garage -
I have good memories cruising behind this car in the Gorges du Verdon 8)
Cheers,
Fred
