Scimitars seen in Europe

Post by roymck » Mon Feb 27, 2017 1:28 pm

Just wondered if these cars are known about .

Spotted at Beauleau autojumble car park a few years ago a French registered GTC it had a for sale notice in the screen , it was RHD but it was an unusual colour a kind of peppermint/ spearmint green. Nice car.

Also nearly bought when I lived in Spain a LHD 1800 SST in yellow . it was on the Costa Brava belonged to a British expat, believe it still had UK number plates on it . The guy also had with it a brand new crated engine to go with it.

Are these cars known?

The GTC doesn't ring any bells, I'd hazard a guess that the Spanish SST is this one (excuse the corrupted photo)

It may be too dark, but that couldn't be Chris' (darkstar) GTC "Vert Soleil" could it?

I was thinking the same Roger
There are not many green GTCs on french plate ... and anyway Chris should be able to spot it if it were another car ...

Maybe this one? - apparently "Aquamarine" & does appear to have had an English connection?

Well done again , my memory failed me and it was not as green as I thought it was . But yes that's the one . I got quite exited when I saw it for sale but then when I looked inside it was RHD and at the time I would have jumped at a LHD one. So where is it now?

Still think it's a lovely colour, would love to own it now .

When did you see it Roy, only a couple of years ago?
It was for sale in the UK in 2010 ...

I did track the car down via a photographer who did a portfolio of the car but the (previous?) owner didn't reply to my e-mail.

Hi Chris , yes you probably right 2010 I was living in Spain and flew back for many car shows etc . What I do remember was the phone number for the GTC was a French one. So has the car disappeared from the radar?

Yes, it's one of two french cars which pop up from time to time but never long enough to pin down.
The other is an SE6a which appeared in Auto-Retro magazine in 2009 (I think) has changed owners, changed colour but is still in Alsace - without contact.
