SE5a in Auto Rétro magazine

Post by DARK STAR » Sat Apr 25, 2015 8:36 pm

It's taken me a month to read the magazine but now I've dissected it and scanned the 6 page article.
Who can spot the deliberate error (in a pic, not the text, which is after all in French 8) )
A very good article and they have promised to do proper french Coupé and SE6/a cars in the near future.

Nobody has yet spotted the error - look at the radiator and you will see ...
well, the fact that you CAN see it should tell you something.

he just has a different rad fitted - you can see it in the minute pic of the underbonnet. Hence the spare wheel cooling mod favoured by some is actually cooling the rad on this one as he doesn't have a spare fitted.

I have just had a phone call from Xavier Audiau - who wrote the article and happens to belong to our club -
He told me that at least 8 people contacted him asking where they could buy Scimitars
The article certainly put Scimitars under the spotlight 8)

Within the next couple of weeks Xavier wants to organize a shooting session + trial of the Flying Sub
so that an article on the SE6 could appear in the summer edition - July/August, the most sold number of the
magazine - and next would be the coupe - get ready James ! -

I hope french motorists do not believe that GTEs only came in yellow

Cheers, Fred

The car in Auto-Retro has a Coupé - or similar - radiator and consequently no room for the spare wheel.
As Jim said, effectively.

Oh boy ... Xavier would be mad :D
Maybe I should contact Peter and ask him if he wants to join us next month in Montlhery ?
- so far Fred (Brownie), Patrice (Aubergine) and James are planning to come and join me on
the English Rencart club enclosure 8) -

Cheers,
Fred

Sounds good to me: I'd love to see Peter's Coupé in the flesh, if I remember rightly from the photos it's got a rather tasty manifold with triple Webers on it! 8)
