French Classic & Sportscar magazine mystery

Post by DARK STAR » Tue Mar 25, 2014 9:38 pm

The french version of Classic & Sportscar has always been a bit of a mystery,
especially to the staff of Classic & Sportscar magazine in the UK.

I have just come across the cover and index of said french magazine featuring Scimitar and Gilbern, though I can't find the article.
I also have a corresponding article in english but the name of the magazine is not marked on the pages !
If anyone can cast a light please let me know ...

Of course, it is just possible that the magazine name fell off the bottom of the scanner ...

Hello Chris,

Oh ... this article of the Scimitar vs the Gilbern is actually the one that I mentionned in this other thread:
viewtopic.php?f=45&t=24782

It was in the January '14 issue of the french version of Classic & Sports cas (the one with the green Miura on the front page)
I can send you the scans later in the week if you wish
So now I know that it takes 5 years to cross the channel ... or to translate the 6 pages into french

Cheers,
Fred

That's recycling - especially as the date on the (french) cover above is april 2009 ...

That's what puzzled me too
Either traduction can't keep up the pace - but 5 years  ! - or they have recycled the 2009 article this year

I have never compared the UK vs French versions of the magazine ... I would expect a little delay like April issue in France
would contain the same articles as say February in the UK ? are they normally synchronized, or is it totally different ?
I guess I can check on the net

Cheers,
Fred

Martin Port told me they take a part of the english edition (translated) and all the ads plus the french magazine has its own editorial.
It sounds very complicated.

What's the French version like? Any good? I used to translate articles for the French version of EVO so if they need any help... ;)

I haven't read it much but it seems to me rather patchy,
the contributions of the two (!) french journalists are good though.
