Problème boite automatique / auto gearbox

Ok so kick down is a sort of maximum throttle signal which tells the gearbox to change down.
Thanks for all that, I'll translate the essentials and re-post ;-)
Yes, the throttle pulls on the kickdown cable. When it approaches wide open, the lever on the gearbox is pulled far enough to tell the gearbox to change down a gear for maximum acceleration.

Problème boite automatique / auto gearbox

Amazingly, I only had to change one thing in Mr Googles translation.
This is the main bit about checking the level ...

The other bits were more complicated - and I'm not at all sure about the use of the word 'bandes' in this context ...

Difference between the 2 gearboxes is it can be left off the C3 (I think Roger has his disconnected?)
Yep, I certainly do. I find full-throttle kickdown is too much of a "blunt instrument", especially in, for example, wet conditions.

Well, it translates backwards OK. The "band" is a circular clamp - imagine the Mikalor clamps on your cooling system but instead of a bolt closing the band, it's a hydraulic piston. Don't know if that changes the word you would substitute given the choice?

Its full title is a "brake band".

Ah thanks.
Looking it up it seems to translate quite literally as 'bande de frein'.
But one can never be sure because Google tends to intervene when it thinks you don't understand something

In order to ensure that you *really don't* understand it!
