That's correct, the manual never included that. The supplement is a separate thing produced by the Club, I'm not sure if it was derived from a Reliant service bulletin or the Ford manual, Jim will probably know?

Yep, I basically converted the Reliant Service Bulletin (and possibly a couple of pictures from a Ford manual :D ) into modern font and layout.

On my GTC the exhaust uses 2" rubber rings in the centre and figure of 8 at the rear.

Thanks Mark, mine seems to be standard then.
So how have the garage managed to hike up one side and not attach the other :doh:
I'll see if I can attach the low side with the correct rubbers and get some longer ones for the high side ...

Incidentally I'll keep the new ignition module as fitted, to be on the safe side.
Remind me how much with the extras.

The modules are only £50, usually £75 or even more depending upon source.

The insured shipping was £13.20.

You can have the lens as I have about 10 of them left, plus I have about 20 brand new units left.

Chris, I picked up a load of exhaust rubbers from Ebay years ago. Don't know why, but it seems the (wait for it) Allegro rubber is perfect. Shall I stick a few in the post?

The Allegro rubbers have been recommended a number of times in the past on here, as being a more durable aliternative to the standard ones, as they have a more "solid" shape and normally look like this: (image from the web) See here on fleabay

Today I bought some gun gum and plucked up courage to re-seal the exhaust manifolds.
Surveying the work site I found the answer to my question -
Some idiot (as in the garage at Lyon, because it wasn't like that before) has jacked up the car on the exhaust system.
On the right (which was not attached :roll: ) the pipe is perfectly straight coming from the two-into-one connection.
On the left it kicks up and jams the front box against the floor.
There is no way this can be corrected and seems to me rather dangerous - red-hot fibreglass resin is not ideal.
So I suppose I'd better invest in a sheet of serious heat-shield material from Demon Tweeks and force it in over the silencer box.

Anyway, removing the manifold on the other side was no more :evil: than expected.
What was unexpected was finding THREE different head sizes on the (same thread!) nuts and bolts - 15, 16 and 17 mm.
The smaller size is great for clearing the big-bore exhaust pipes, only I have no 15 mm spanner 8)
The upper nuts/bolts are easy with a long extension on the socket wrench but the lower ones are behind the pipes and impossible without an open-ended spanner.
Even then one is working half a flat at a time.
So several hours work to do very little, and even more irritating because I already had to do the job when I bought the car.

Tomorrow we'll see if it works ...

PS See if you can guess which gasket was leaking, and in the second photo spot the not-so-deliberate mistake - think which direction the manifold has to move to come off :wink:

I hope so too, but the french are not very technical.
It is quite liquid in a tube, has instructions for use in assembly and it is rated to 1000º ...

I even had to order the electric glue abroad, no-one has ever heard of it round here.
