I seem to have lost a month somewhere.
Did you send me the rubber goods for the weekend Mark  because I haven't received anything ...

I did pass some time under the car during the month, trying to get it 'finished' for sale.
I scraped the surface rust off the sills, painted and oiled them.
They weren't at all bad but much better now.
I notice that some idiot (probably me) has jacked the car up in the wrong place and deformed the vertical bits of the outriggers but that is not too serious.
At least it shows they are strong enough to hold the car up 8)

Hose arrived thanks Mark.
I'm not inclined to pass time in the unheated garage at the moment ...

Ridiculous weather continued until the other day, just rain not snow but a lot of it.
Today I decided at last to change the water hose, the car started instantly and I reversed out to uncover the inspection pit.
And found at least 15 cm of water in the pit :?
This is a bit annoying because the anti-flooding floor I installed is only 10 cm high.
I got out the pump that no1 son had kindly given me, but of course I haven't a hose big enough to fit it.
Apart from a metre or so of Samco silicone.
The boss says I should convert the pit into a well, but I would still need some bigger hose
Job put off until next time.

Right, having finally overcome all obstacles there is a new hose on the car and I haven't found any other problems (yet).
Just for the record, 'cos it's not very interesting, here are latest photos of the front of the engine bay.

Just One thought Chris

I would have put the rocker covers on the other way round to make access to the oil filler cap easier, hard work getting an oil can is so close to the rear of the bonnet.
And as your using a flexi pipe for the breather it would have not interfered with owt.

Now he tells me
Good idea, next time I have to demolish the engine I'll do that.

Later that same year ...
I went in to town to get the car out of its hibernation, we've been so busy it's the first opportunity I had.
Without much hope (and the interior light being rather dim) I turned the key - and it started instantly :hurrah:
I've since been using it for a couple of weeks as my daily driver - even took the hardtop off when no1 son returned from holidays.
It really is a pleasure to drive and runs perfectly ... except for that bloody choke.
I think the bi-metallic spring thingie has finally given up the ghost because there is no throttle advance at all on starting from cold.
Well, cold-ish, there's not much cold round here at the moment.
I'll have to do some research to find out a/ what it's called and b/ if anyone has one for sale.

Chris I have a couple of complete Pierburg carbs for the 6b/GTC, I could send you a complete choke kit?

Which carb do you have on yours, Chris? If it's a Weber, isn't there a manual choke kit available?

Sounds good to me Mark, let me how much to PayPal.
Phil, it's a Pierburg and being the most stubborn Scimitarist in existence I will make it work correctly :bh
I did think of making a manual choke linkage myself, not very difficult, but I haven't the time,

It rained last month, before I took the hardtop off.
The hardtop is nice and watertight but I got wet legs.
Looking at the windscreen surround it was obvious why.
As I have come to expect with past work done on the car someone had made a complete hash of the fitting.
It is a new heated screen (can't find the wires to connect it  ) fitted - well sort of - with the old rubber and insert.
There are gaps of up to 6 mm in places and of course the rubber is perished here and there.
I carried out a major renovation with black Sika and have probably cured the leaks, time will tell.
I hope I never need to remove the screen ...

Cleaning up after the Sika I noticed (after three years) that the bottom inside of the screen is dirty.
Is there any way to clean it without removing the dash top?

I also cleaned the interior, convertibles get very dusty in daily use

Crumbs, Chris. I never saw you as a cotton-bud man!! You could try some glass cleaner spray and a small paint-brush, I suppose. Do we have a sub-section for the Concours contestants? But the car does look VERY smart!
