Montlhery Vintage Revival (6-7 May '17) - pics heavy -

Post by tanuki » Mon Jul 17, 2017 8:52 am

Hello Guys,

Being on vacation this week, I am trying to catch up with my posts on the forum ...

Here goes a series of photos from the Montlhery Vintage Revival that was held in early May :D

Thanks to my friends from AutoRetro (reporter Xavier & photographer Daniel) I could attend the event for free and park in the classics carpark, nearly next to two other Scimitars that were already there - the usual suspects in their Sabre & SST wich you will no doubt recognize  -

Queuing before getting access to the circuit:

Super stuff, Fred! That's my kind of rally. There was a very strong British contingent, wasn't there? I particularly like the Rileys and MGs, and as you know I am a fan of the Morgans. Did you know tha 3-wheeler Moggie holds a world record at Montlhéry which still stands? - and I see in one of your pictures there is a supercharged one. I bet that goes! Thanks for posting :D

The GN with the yellow/black horizontal stripes is the very famous "Thunderbug" of Mark Walker. It's powered by a V-Twin engine of 4.2 litres! :D  and normally driven in a very exuberant style :D

Hello Ian, it was indeed a brilliant event ... you should come next year
There were many more vehicles than I can possibly illustrate in this post ...
if you google montlhery vintage revival 2017 you could spend hours flicking through thousands of pics

There was a quota on Morgans in order to allow for other models to be present ...
What started many years ago as a meeting with just about a dozen cyclecars is now growing each year.
The owner of the Rally is a friend of the organizer and has been to all previous editions !
There is a rumor that the show which is still being organized by the same original team might be organized by Peter Auto in the future (?)
I wonder if a change in scale will allow to preserve the friendly atmosphere of this event ?
Anyway, a much enjoyable show still for the moment 8)

Well I did not have a chance to see it on the track ... but I was lucky to be in the paddock at the end of the day when the guys were leaving the place !
What a sound !!

Brilliant Fred, thanks.

I see Andrew was there with his MG Magnette V8 TVR ;)

I rather like the 1.5-decker bus/transporter, any history on that?

God forbid that Peter Auto should ever get hold of it!

Hello Chris,

Unfortunately, no particular info on this bus ... except that the plate shows "oldiecars.ch" , which now leads to a broken page  although it is listed in a Google search.
There is a sticker on the windscreen: Camping Monte Generoso ... which also leads to Stwitzerland
There are hundreds of T/G logos ... I could not find this particular one, even adding bus or coaches or Tosca - showing below the logo - in the search
Sorry ...
Fred
