Bourse de Courtenay (45) - Pics heavy -

Post by tanuki » Mon Apr 17, 2017 2:18 pm

On the 9th of April I went to this local event that I had heard of for many years
from my mates at English Rencart, yet I never had a chance to go ...

Courtenay is a small country town in the Loiret prefecture - only 4000 inhabitants -
yet with an old and busy history since the 10th century. As small as it may be, it is host
to a yearly event which is growing bigger each time: the Bourse de Courtenay,
a fair dedicated to motor vehicles of all kinds (bicycles, tricycles, cars, trucks,
military vehicles as well as agricultural vehicles).

The whole city center was sealed for a full weekend, with only one single road open
to normal traffic ... all the places, roads, car parks and the area around the old
abandoned train station were packed with booths, exhibitions, club areas and of course
all sorts of classic vehicles. Visitors had to park on the outskirts of town, with
sometimes a good kilometer to walk back to city center ! The number of visitors was
amazing, and the weather was absolutely perfect for this time of the year.

The stands alone - where junk and treasures were mixed in pure chaos - would add up
to a good mile of exploration. It took a few hours just walking through the exhibits
and to be honest only stopping in search of books or miniature models - no Scimitars
of course ! - The remaining of the days went strolling among all the vehicles 8)

Given the size of the event, the city was divided in sectors dedicated to each type of
vehicle - follow the signs below - Enjoy the visit !

Cheers,
Fred

Great pictures. Love the miniature engines.
What's the yellow car in "youngtimer's corner" ? A Renault 15 ?

Yep, and there was this other one further up the road
Although the front of the yellow one looks 17'ish, I think that only the 15 had this rear quarter window ...

There were plenty of other cars which I cannot put here unfortunately - a total of 360 pics -
Anyway here's a bonus, with this tasty Venturi 8)

About the miniature engines, I should have taken a video ... as there was one actually running :D

Cheers,
Fred

Thank you!
My Grandfather had a Renault 15 and I have lots of fond memories of it. He was an engineer by profession, and one of his hobbies was model engineering. Those miniature engines are the kind of things that would have been very capable of making. Among the models he did make were Steam locomotives.
