shock compatibility se5a/se6 gtc etc

can any of you kind folk tell me if the later gtc shocks will fit an se5a are they interchangable..i currently have avo on front and what looks like standard rear which one seems to be very damp-and if the springs would sit high-my car is high anyway but i dont want 4x4 height lol

No the shock bushes are different widths.

but since the GTC are 1 1/8 inch wide and the 5 are 1 1/4 wide a 1/16 inch large outer diameter 1/2 inch inner diameter washer on either side of the bush would be an advantage which would save wear on the brackets inner face and get you to the right width between brackets.
or even drill out bracket holes from 1/2 inch to 5/8 inches and fit the spacers as per the 6 onwards cars (spacers on inside of brackets). Spacers more easily replaced than brackets when worn.
