Coolant level

Hi everyone, just a quick question regarding coolant level. I've just completed a rebuild and when filling with coolant I noticed that the auto choke housing is higher than the level in the thermostat housing when filled. Just thinking about trapped air.

General rule for filling cooling systems is to jack the front of the car as high as possible before pouring in the coolant. Make sure the heater valve is open too.

Nigel at QRG also advises removing the temp sender and filling until coolant comes out. After that, the remaining air (and there will be a little) will be expelled through the header tank over a few heating and cooling cycles. Keep an eye on the level in the header tank until it is consistent and stops dropping after cooling off.

I just run it with the pressure cap off, burp it a few times and it’ll find it’s level.

6 doesn’t have a heater valve, just a flap.
