6a lower wishbones - what have I done wrong!?
Hi all, started to bolt some bits back on the car (details being added in a another thread).
When I bought the car the lower w/bones were on upside down having been swapped over to lower it etc. I am returning it to standard.
Pas Car.
I was careful to mark the w/bones when they came off and were painted etc. The ones with the green elastic bands were on N/S and upside down.
Logic suggests therefore that they should be re-fitted right way up on O/S.
When I bolt them on and add the damper plate in readiness for trunnion etc. the trunnion holes are quite far out of line. If I loosen of the damper plate bolts I *might* be able to get them to line up enough for the trunnion bolt to pass through but don't think its right.
Thinking I must have got them mixed up I have tried bolting on the other pair but the same problem. Tried laying them out on the floor and swapping them around to find a combination that will work on both sides but am failing. It seems that I have two identical pairs, but of course when I put on e pair n the other side they would be reversed.......I am confused!
Is there a foolproof way to work out which pair should go where? I must be missing something screamingly obvious.....!
(I am trying to upload a good pic of all 4, but for some reason this one pic will not load - takes on same phone at same time as the other pics. Have tried exporting it in different sizes & formats, even taking a screen shot but nothing will let this image load....will try in another post]

It doesn’t matter which way round the lower wishbones go (F/R or L/R) but the chassis brackets they attach to are handed, as are the upper wishbones and obviously the trunnions.

As it’s a pas car the upper w/b are opposite to the diagram in the manual I believe so I think they are correct.
The eyes are indeed pointing to the floor, unlike before when they weren’t!
The lower brackets have the bolts to the rear which I understand is right for a pas car.

6a lower wishbones - what have I done wrong!?
Can I clarify, are all 4 lower wishbones supposed to be identical, or are they handed?
\ / \ / vs. \ / \ / etc.
A A A A. A B B A
It looks to be like I have two slightly different profiles, in a other words a pair of "A" type (left) and pair of "B" type (right)
If I pair an A with a B, then on the O/S of the car the A would be towards the rear but on the N/S it would be towards the front, meaning that if an A is different to a B then the set up is subtly different on each side of the car which wouldn't seem right.
Or is it that all 4 wishbones are essentially identical, and that any variations are simply to do with the castings when manufactured making them appear slightly different?

just had four pairs come back from blasting, they have slightly different casting numbers but this does not seem to correspond with the position they were fitted to. They are handed and mirror copies of each other I believe.

6a lower wishbones - what have I done wrong!?
Thanks Geraint, so in theory I could choose any two opposing wishbones from the pic above and put them on either side of the car and it should still be 'correct'?
Assuming my upper wishbones / lower mounting brackets / damper plate are all correct, then the misalignment in the lower wishbones I saw originally when trial fitting must just need jiggling about a bit until it fits. Maybe I'll fit the trunnion/vertical link to the wishbones first then add the damper plate and hope the holes line up

6a lower wishbones - what have I done wrong!?
Thanks Geraint, I have fitted them the right way up as was trying to undo the mod from the PO, it was just that once fitted they appear to be out of line with each other making trunnion fitting difficult. In the pic the left one seems to come out 'longer' than the other, hence wondering if the pair that I fitted weren't matched properly, i.e. in a pair of wishbones does one have subtly different angles to the other (like a pair of top wishbones) meaning I may have them paired wrong resulting in a misaligned trunnion bolt hole...

Looking again just now it appears that on the pair I fitted the casting is noticeably longer/thicker on one of them than the other probably exaggerating the effect. Back on they go!
