Without any choke, you're going to have a right time getting it to fire from cold, irrespective of how strong or weak the spark is.
I opened the choke manually and the car has attempted to start while cranking the engine I have the battery on charge again to build it up so hopefully she will go

Make sure that you give the throttle two or three full strokes first.

The issue with those "choke conversions" is that there is no provision for fast idle, making your life very difficult. In the interim, I would suggest turning up the idle speed screw a couple of turns and try again. You want about 2000RPM after cold starting, for a few minutes. As it warms up you can wind it back down as required.

Hard to see but are you sure the cables snapped.Looks like the end has just pulled through the hole in the linkage ?

I checked it again its not snapped just was out of the linkage, when pressing the accelerator fully it jams up and doesn't spring back like it should there seems to be some issue with the spring back mechanism on the carb

Is it an automatic? I think I can see a cable connected to the end of the throttle spindle, going down the back of the engine ? Automatics have a relay to prevent them being started in gear, which could be failing/faulty, causing your problem. If it's an automatic gearbox, you need advice from someone who owns one.

That could be the problem its certainly not springing back into place, its an automatic if anyone has any picture of this part of the carb where the accelerator cable joins be much appreciated

Yes she is the SE5a its it neutral and engine won't turn in any other gear so that side of things seems to be ok, she nearly went last night ran for a couple of seconds in the process of trying again turned ignition for too long and buggered up the starter so will get another one fitted and report back next week I will try turning up the idle as mentioned until I get the accelerator sorted.
