Essex heads state

Post by Mimic » Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:07 pm

Hi,

My engine is not at its best: Compression difference appears between cylinders. Time is gone to check. First step is heads: I have some cracks between inlet&exhaust valve seats on my Oval port heads

Could you tell me if I could repear easily?
2nd question concerning the valve seats. they are in poor conditions I am wondering if it ll be recut previously ? And could I recut one more time or does I need consider a reconditionned head (in O port )?
Advices are welcome.

Regards and happy Christmas

If they are cracked then the consensus is that they are scrap

Yep people around me tell me it's very hard to recon cast iron head.
The cylinders with these cracks are cylinders which have more compression rate ...astonishing!
