Ballast resistor hot quickly!

So after auto sparky here, put in new lumenition wired as he thought ect, tried Cranking her over after few tries at starting the ballast resistor and it's metal holder were stinking hot, why? And does this mean he's made an arse of it?.

Sounds like he could have done - mine with lumenition does not get too hot.

Not very clear but might be good enough.

Yea actually gave him this to use, but now that I'm looking doesn't really look the same

He could have powered the module from the wrong side of the resistor - ie the coil +ve.

No just running with a low voltage supply.
