Pictures I found suggest it’s in the RH footwell - I’d say only disturb the door seal and remove any fixings, then see if the panel will pull away enough to see?

Edit: I’d go with Mick. He’s rarely wrong to be fair.

This time (as is often the case) Phil was right.
Except that you can't pull the panel away far enough to see, it is well overlapped by the door sill trim.
SO I removed the eight screws and the left hand sill trim, and the bottom of the door seal, which amazingly has a joint to facilitate this.
The under-dash trim was already removed.
I worked out that the kick panel would then pull out backwards.
And there is nothing there except a lot of multi-connectors 8)

Repeat performance on the right hand side, where one of the strange plastic dzus fasteners is literally impossible to see, working by touch.
Bingo, found the ECU, more multi-connectors - and well hidden behind them, what I assume is the ECU relay.
It shows 90230894 but no circuit diagram.
I tested it and applying 12v to 86 & 85 or 85b & 87 makes it click (one of the pairs is polarity dependent, can't remember which)
Does this mean it works?

I proceeded to elementary checks once I could put the car over the pit.
Fuel pump works very well.
There is no spark.

Just to conclude this ridiculous tale, I replaced the green relay that is blue with a new one which is black.
One and a half minutes to open the car and fit the relay.
One and a half hours to put back all the interior trim.
Incidentally Recaro seats are not at all comfortable when lying on your back with one corner of the seat sticking in your kidneys.
