SS1 1600 inducator relay

Post by kevincooper » Sat Mar 11, 2017 4:13 pm

Afternoon All

Can anyone tell me where the indicator relay unit is on the SS1. I have found the hazard and low fuel relays behind the dashboard to the right of the steering column, but cannot find the indicator. As they are not working I guess it is that at fault.

Many thanks

Kevin

Its behind the drivers side of the dash somewhere - I cannot remember exactly where. Have you tried operating the hazard switch a few times as its often dirt on its contacts which stops the normal indicators working.

Hi Pete

The hazards are working fine, it is the indicators that refuse to work, I have tried working the indicator switch up and down many times, but nothing. As I said I have found the hazard and low fuel relays, but cannot see or feel the indicator.

Regards

Kevin

There's only one relay on the small sports for indicators and hazards and originally, it's in the steering column cowl. Relays on the A post crossbar are low fuel and low water (along with low oil module on early cars). 6DA unit for intermittent wipers is mounted on the (bracket alongside) steering column.

Keep exercising the Hazard switch (and try to pull it out when "off") as the indicators are disabled if the Hazard switch is on and vice versa.

so if the hazards are working, it's either the indicator switch or the hazard switch. As the hazard switch gets used so little (hopefully :-)) that's normally the culprit as Peter & Phil say.

Thanks all

I will try it tomorrow, hopefully the switch is the culprit.
