Re: Rocker Switch Symbols Re-worked

Ahead of a damp weather driving day at the weekend I decided to clean all the connections on both the blower switch and rear screen heater.

Beforehand I struggled to hear the fans with the engine running and although the volt meter showed 12v at the screen heater it never cleared anything. I was surprised at how big a difference this made, both are now doing a great job, only drawback - the fan motors are now quite noisy :D

Rocker Switch Symbols Re-worked

Post by gordini5 » Mon Feb 19, 2018 4:11 pm

Easier, quicker, better!

With our new label printer at work I've been making switch decals for the SE5a along with HIPS plastic caps for snug fit over old grey shrouds. :D

Labels are matt laminated to protect the print and will be elongated further than that shown to wrap around the top and bottom sides of the rocker switch, protecting the edges.

I can make full sets if anyone is interested.

Finished switch looks great and although I can still engrave the decals this method is much easier as the switch and wiring can stay in situ.

Also after testing earlier examples, although the engraved rocker switch remains black it seems Lucas made the shroud in a different plastic and this fades back to grey.

I've found even the crudiest rocker switches can be brought back to life with some wet and dry.

We’ll save on Postage and send two sets if you like Steve - I’ve been talking to Jamie for a while about a set for diesel but the fading surround had put me off.

A good plan, but perhaps save the postage one way as there is no need to send me the switches. :D

Labels are easy to apply and with the minimum of fettling the shrouds just fit straight over the top of your old ones - can be done without removing the switches from the car.

PM's sent

First repair kit done, will make another and send them out next week. :D

Strips of 3M d/s tape supplied for fitting shrounds.

Looking better with the longer labels. Additional labels included so that you can trial fit first.
