SE6 Carb Part required
Hi All,
Whilst changing the rocker cover gaskets on my SE6 I noticed the breather pipe from top of rocker cover to bottom of carb had split. as usual with this car as you sort one problem you discover/cause another!
Removing the pipe I managed to snap the plastic "nose" under the carb,
So there I am, started with a 20 minute job and ended up removing the carb so I could get at the problem. The broken part is a plastic "spacer" around 1 cm thick with a metal "W" screwed to it which sits down in the manifold. the plastic appears to be the type you cant glue as I have tried epoxy and it is not strong enough to take a pipe being pushed on it. So I need to buy a new spacer.
Any ideas where I can find one?? Of course if anyone has one lurking at the back of their garage and wish to sell I would be extremely grateful.
Martin

Gold dust - you can drill and tap it and screw in a pipe if all else fails. Not as easy to do as it sounds perhaps as the plastic is fragile.

The spacer with the w shaped attachment is known as the carburettor to manifold spacer, part number 210719, and the hose as a hose, part number 209887! They sometimes appear on ebay. Look under the title 'Reliant Scimitar'. If you get absolutely desperate, I can send you one from here in Germany but I suspect the postage, while being considerably less than that from UK to Germany, would be a lot.

Re: SE6 Carb Part required
Are you sure that the pipe connects from the rocker cover?. I have the one from the 6A I used own in front of me and the only pipe is the one that connects to the vacuum advance/retard on the distributor. This pipe is broken off and the hole filled with 'Araldite' as I was using a high performance electronic distributor that didn't use a vacuum advance/retard. Personally I would connect the vent pipe from the rocker cover to an oil catch tank. If you ever remove the heads you will see the oily mess on your polished & flowed inlet valves!
If it is the vacuum take off I would tap the hole and thread a piece of copper pipe and screw it in with some sealant.

Tony, the Essex has a vent system that has a pipe (with one way valve valve) between the RH rocker cover and the inlet (via the carb spacer that sits below the carb)

Yes, sorry I got confused, (it's my age), you are correct, but it is a few years since I had the 6A. If any body wants the spacer I have with the vent pipe blocked off they can have it for the cost of the postage.

Re: SE6 Carb Part required
Thanks for the replies.
Having searched the web it would seem that this part is about as plentiful as hen's teeth. I have fashioned a repair along the lines of the suggestions using a piece of brake pipe and my virgin tap & die set. Sealed in with epoxy and put the top of the engine back together.
Long test drive later all seems well.
6 hrs to change the rocker cover gaskets seems a bit excessive though!!

There’s remanufactured spacers now available from Burtons etc - not cheap though. The PCV (valve) in the rocker cover opens to allow air out and into the inlet manifold.
