Just been to the dentist......

Post by Datsundrew » Fri Jan 12, 2018 2:31 pm

As the title says, just been to the dentist, no big deal, but I've just got home and realised a few things.....
I went in the scimitar, and gave no thought as to all the potential problems that may happen, it's comfortable and quite fast, the heater and heated seats are better that any other car I've been in, and I've not put fuel on it for a long time.
As most will know, it's been completely in bits and has mercedes running gear etc, so it should be ok, but I'd expect to have many issues as with other cars I've had, but this is the first time I just got in it to get somewhere, and that's something I didn't do for several years in my Land Rover.

That's a good thing..

Get in car.

Start.

Drive.

Arrive.

That's what it's meant to do, so mission accomplished!

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

The trouble with old stuf is usually get in car, start, what's that noise, check that noise, worry if that weld has held up, will that split pin fall out, arrive, stressed.
I'm feeling that confident, I'm going out to see concord tomorrow, and I'm taking the scim.

In the sixties my late father travelled probably upwards of 50,000miles a year as a sales engineer - he was using the usual repmobiles of the day....& I never remember him not being able to get home because of a breakdown. Given a certain degree of maintenance they can be just as reliable, if not more so, than modern stuff. The other day I was sat on a train next to a chap whose 3yr. old BMW (I suspect a top-of-the-tree one!) failed to start - having done some research he thought it was a 'processor'......or something like that I think he said. Anyhow if it was what he thought the replacement unit was £1500.00.. : then, I presume, it would have had to be fitted at a BMW dealers' at 3 figures per hour!!
