jump starter

Post by Dave McGregor » Sat Nov 18, 2017 5:29 pm

Hi
I am sure someone here will know the answer to this. The new generation of small booster/starter packs all have a little box right in the middle of the red +ve lead. What on earth is this? My guess is that it might be some sort of diode pack but I really do not know and I would love to know.
Thanks
Dave

Not having a jump starter or even looked at them I can only think you are right its a diode pack in case it is connected the wrong way around. Just think of the current that would result from having two batteries in series in a closed circuit - it would be a big bang and dangerous to anyone near.

A quick google suggests they’re Schottky diodes?
