Re: SE5a FKV100L - Rolling rejuvenation project

Planning on making a front gril to cover these home cut vent holes. Either vertical chrome spoke bars, or a black mesh inside a black holding frame...

Re: SE5a FKV100L - Rolling rejuvenation project

A few more pics from today. One thing that's perplexing is that the front wheels, when turned in, rub against the wing. I'm hoping this may be a simple issue of having the wrong profile tyres on the front, but I fear it might not be that simple. I think the front tyres would have to be significantly...

Se5a Rolling rejuvenation project

Day 01 with my new car. Started by giving it a wash down to see what was beneath all the dirt. Not too bad under there. Some hairline crazing in a few small places. Paint job is largely okay from a durability point of view, but lies somewhere between a quick n dirty pro spray and a rattle can specia...

Re: Absolute Beginner

Oh right, well then... If anyone here happened to have a picture of what a correctly clipped pipe should look like, I'd be very relieved to see it in order to make sure my own is oaky.

Re: Absolute Beginner

Oh and I've also been told the bumpers fall off because they're only attached to some elastic bands behind the front valance, or something.

That's it. That's All I know about Scimitars.

DARK STAR wrote:Actually I seem to remember also that David Bowie recorded a song 'Absolute Beginners' ... ?
He did. It was for a film that launched Patsy Kensit's damp firework of a career. I don't think D Bowie wrote it, but maybe he did. It doesn't seem like a Bowie song though in my opinion.

Re: Absolute Beginner

Thanks for the welcomes folks. For some reason my phone is only showing the latest post so I hadn't noticed the welcomes. Much appreciated. Absolute beginner is in reference to my history as a Scimitar owner by the way. Aside from having an Essex V6 in the back of a Bedford van I used to own (and st...

Re: Absolute Beginner

Scimitars and hot dates. I think that should be sold as a series to the BBC. Every week a bunch of lapsing celebrities choose a Scimitar key from a bowl, with an address attached to it. Each week, obe celebrity gets knocked out for poor dating skills or a fire, or collapsed outriggers, and the winne...

Re: Absolute Beginner

It's not too bad for the money I paid. It's very ratty up close. Lots of uneven textures on the surfaces, misaligned panels (bonnet and driver's door) and tatty inside. But to be honest, that's what I want and what I like. I have neither the time nor the space to maintain a pristine car, so for year...

Wow, I've been here only five minutes and just learned something valuable in another thread....

That is awesome news, because one of my wipers fell off.

Already begun the process of pulling all the stickers off, and some chunks of paint.

Re: Absolute Beginner

WRONG FORUM!

HOW DO I DELETE PLEASE?

How embarrasing. I'm Tim, and I just recently (as recently as yesterday) popped my Scimitar cherry and purchased a fairly ratty SE5a with the usual legendary 3.1RS engine that's always fitted to slightly knackered old Scimitars pulled out of hedges.

Absolute Beginner

Hello, I'm Tim. I like art, walks in the park, rainy days and sunshine. I'm a keen poet and write my own poetry which I perform to an appreciative audience at my local poetry groups. I'm looking to meet a lady for fun, friendship, possibly more (ie sex and so on). I'm shy and quiet, but I have hidde...
