Re: BOND BUG 4-wheeler

Hi, if I remember correctly, the Corbridge Bug was offered for sale on Ebay at the beginning of this year. I contacted the vendor and he told me that the car was an original 3-wheeled Bond Bug, converted by his (late) father who had been a technician trained by Rolls Royce. I understand he had owned...

Re: School project SS1

If you have a missing key an easier route would be to take the lock to a good locksmith and they can make a key to suit. We have had a Master Locksmith in Worksop for as long as I can remember and the last 2 spare keys he has made for me (SS1 ignition and mobility scooter) have been useless. It doe...

Am I still fit to drive?

Hi, I have just been reading an item on bbc.co.uk about older drivers' fitness to drive. I first passed my driving test in 1979, at the tender age of 17, after 10 1-hour lessons. Over the last 50 years, I have suffered one accident, where I failed to stop quickly enough and bumped the car in front (...

Re: Green SS1

Hello Phil, Once again I am indebted to you for your help, that looks like a perfect solution to my needs. My welding skills are less than good, but my brother-in-laws' cousin has made a few bespoke towbars in the past (mainly for towing Lambrettas) and I think I have a favour or two in hand. In add...

Re: Green SS1

Hi, Was a TOW BAR available for the SS1? My other car is a Road King Pro Rider 24v (mobility scooter) which won't fit in the boot! I saw three very nice cars at the show in Clumber Park yesterday (SE5, Sabre SS1) which convinced me that I need put mine through the car wash again (and I've only had i...

Re: Advice on Custom Decals, where to get them from?

Hi Tim, Which of the above is the magic ingredient? Is it experience? the right tools? lack of pressure? or just plain self-confidence? You've turned out a brilliant transformation of something 40 years old (am I talking about the artwork or the Scimitar?) Perhaps it was just the red wine/Dylan comb...

Re: Advice on Custom Decals, where to get them from?

Hi Steve, The high cost could be due to your metric conversion... 889mm is the width of a house door, do you mean 88.9mm by 34.9mm?

Re: SS1 distributor

Hi, I have just had a quick look and there is a mark on the distributor/engine where it can easily be seen and yes I can see the benefit removing the breather. When I swapped the coil. I managed to drop (and recover) a flat washer and a nut. The carb has a compact foam RAMAIR filter, so no problem t...

how many left?

Sorry to be a nuisance but I have been browsing on the howmanyleft.co.uk website. How accurate is this count? Is it taken from official statistics? I ran a check on a DVLA statistics site and the spreadsheet it delivered ran out at Mercedes on my computer (there appears to be a second page which I c...

SS1 distributor

Hi, I am sure this question has been asked before but I can't find an answer. My 1600 CVH recently started misfiring. I checked everything out and the only thing I could see wrong was that the coil was sparking across all three terminals. I replaced the coil with a new one and cured the dancing spar...
