Differing exhaust notes each side

good morning all, no, i am not going mad. i am happily motoring now with the 6a after a few issues that are mostly now sorted, but i have noticed that there is a distinct difference in exhaust note for each bank. the exhausts are the same design each side, same condition etc. but the exhaust on the ...

Fuse for Horns. Where is it?

Hi, glad you got sorted.

as far as CDL goes i would hazard a guess at central door locking? unless there is another fuse for that?

cheers, Ian.

auto gearbox "knock"/vibration

Good morning all, i have had a couple of days trouble free motoring in the 6a and enjoying life with the new carb etc. driven 35 miles to work today, all good except i have now noticed a rhythmical vibration/knock through the body work. knock is too strong a term, more like something pulsing through...

Small update for the record. New carb fitted, new gaskets etc too of course. This carb has a choke fitted too. New points and condenser fitted. Fuel filter put in line over rear axle. Timed again. Gearbox fluid checked. Very clean. So left alone. Fuel added and out for a run. Glad to report al...

mechanical advance/surge/hunt issues

So true Phil. Thanks for your continued encouragement. After cleaning the jets I should have blown through the carb body too. Anyway, the car runs. And is drivable. I am so relieved. Plus enjoying learning lots about the new acquisition. Some new basic parts replaced is no bad thing also. Next job r...

mechanical advance/surge/hunt issues

Well. Hunting you say? Rough as a bag of spanner’s on idle? Impossible to drive? Not anymore. Lesson of the week. When you have an idling issue then check then check then clean and clean again the idle jets. Runs sweet as a nut. New carb and bits still going to be fitted, but she drives a tre...

mechanical advance/surge/hunt issues

Thanks Phil and Philip. Vac advance seems to work ok. So that is hopefully one issue off the list. But the carb surges/hunts on tick over by about 600/700rpm in a nice cycle. From tick over set at about 700 when it behaves to as low as 400 and up to 1000. Like the anti stall is doing its thing. I as...

Hi RA, i removed a plug yesterday and the plug is red! i have seen on the web that this can sometimes be caused bu fuel additives, which the PO was doing. i have tried the changing the mixture screws but to no avail. tonight i will try the start up from cold and see if that improves anything as the ...

mechanical advance/surge/hunt issues

good morning all, just a quick question if i may (i have had a day off from pestering you). i have a terrible hunting on idle problem and i have been going down a mental list of things to check. part of this process has led me to checking the advance mechanism. i have vacuum and the plate moves, but...
