Fascinating stuff - thanks Craig.

For completeness, mine's a 5a, not a 5; reg EJF96L. Why are you classed as 'L' rather than ModProd?

Clearly he shouldn't have fitted them Carlos Fandango wheels...

You're probably right, Roger; perhaps it's only ever been the top bush that I've had to cut out, and then only when it's all still in the car.

I did say the memory was shakey.

Hi Jim,

Yes please.

Can't do the first week of June as I'm in Scotland, but more or less anywhen else in the next few weeks is good.

Are you free on Monday to pick up the half cage and seats for 8-Ball?

Memory is a bit shakey on this, but here goes. First, you won't get the column apart without either unbolting the rack from the chassis or detaching the outer column from the dash - there isn't enough slack in the assembly to free the splines at either end unless you do this. Second, the steering lo...

[Nods]

Scrutineering was disappointingly lax, to be honest - things are generally pretty tight at the start of the season, but not this time.

Hi Steve, Yes, looking back through my notes May Wiscombe does always seem to be soggy. I should probably have learned that by now... I had one iffy moment on the first practice run, too. The car's not picking up cleanly, which makes it a bit 'all or nothing' and 'all' was too much, even in third, f...

Like pretty much everywhere else this weekend, Wiscombe was wet. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n172/Nick_F_2006/DSCN1932.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n172/Nick_F_2006/DSCN1933.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n172/Nick_F_2006/DSCN1963.jpg We all started slowly, went slower, then...

Good effort Raz - and at least you didn't knock the splitter off... As Craig says, if you're still road legal then test the thing on the road - what else are you paying VED for?

Learned today that Tony Marsh, 6 times British Hillclimb Champion, died a short while ago.

Another great character gone. Brief obit. here:

Me,
Garry,
Adam & John,
Dave
and Len.

None of your pointy car nonsense then... :) , but it looks like it's going to be slippery.

Cage is done, collecting the car tomorrow and hoping to get it weighed, among other things, on Saturday. The 2001 dyno figure will have to do until I know better.
