Re: Joe's Scimitar 1972 GTE 5a Restoration

(Some?) Rev counters have an adjuster pot on the back; stick a multimeter on the coil to get a 'true' rpm reading, hold revs at somewhere around 3,000 and twiddle the adjuster until the rev counter reads the same. Health warning: my knowledge of vehicle electrics is limited, and I have enough spares...

Re: Wiscombe Park SSSC Rnd 5 May 16th

Setting out for the May Wiscombe meeting is always a triumph of hope over experience - I didn't even bother taking a brolly... Conditions - and times - were much as last year: started wet and slippery and then dried slowly despite the drizzle until it really chucked it down an hour after lunchtime a...

I used Caged, in Frome. Superb job, but not much change from £1,500 for a full 8-point set-up. You might spend a little less with Safety Devices or one of the others, but Caged were closest to me. They also made Paul 'Tango' Turnbull's: bags of pics of that dotted around the forum and on Dave Poole'...

Best wishes to Thelma - a bump on the head is unlikely to have done Craig any harm...

I was annoyed not to have got an entry until I read this; now I'm quietly relieved.

Twinkle, twinkle, little bat,
How I wonder what you're at.
Up above my head you fly,
Like a tea-tray in the sky...

Nice pics Nick, sorry to miss you on the day.

5 minutes in my car is a lifetime in dog years...

You have a year to tell everyone you meet that you can go flat through Hollow - by the time you get to Gurston again you'll be so used to saying it that you'll believe it yourself.

Unlikely to get a leave pass for that - may have to catch up over a hot cuppa on Sunday morning rather than a cold tinny on Saturday evening.

either get them at Wiscombe or as you pass within 250 ft of my house on your way from Wiscombe to Gurston - drop off Saturday PM? Incidentally, if anyone needs emergency repairs between the two events, I'm exactly halfway between Wiscombe & Gurston on the A303 - with welder, tools, spare beds, beer...

Tickets needed for both, Wiscombe is cheaper, I think. Contacts for Wiscombe here , or it may be worth contacting Clerk of the Course/Entries Secretary for the event Bruce Weston, who's just up the road in South Cadbury: 01963 440941. (His number's already on the web, before anyone asks...) Afraid m...
