Weber 40 DFA

Good morning all. Over the last few evenings I have overhauled the 40 DFA from the car. Although needing a good clean the internals were in very good condition and having reassembled the unit with new gaskets I wanted a basic setting for the idle/ mixture controls . A starting point for getting the ...

Ac fuel pump rebuild

Groundhog Day latest query. I have an overhaul kit for my AC fuel pump but on removing the bowl and splitting the body it seems impossible to dismantle further and the valves appear not to be designed to be replaced. The pump is so full of crud I don’t know how any fuel got through. Has anybody rece...

Yes I don't know where I got that from Jim, but anyway sump off , cleaned together with the pickup. Pump removed and worn pencil drive replaced and all now reassembled , bolts torqued up including front cover. I'll put a photo in when i'm a bit further on , but i'm afraid the look is rather more 'sh...

New day new effort. Cam gear replaced...Phew! Front cover replaced with new seal for the lower pulley. Engine rotated on the stand and sump removed together with oil pump pickup strainer. Both filthy and being thoroughly cleaned. Intention is to check the pencil drive and replace if necessary. I see...

Bonjour Chris. J’espère que la confinement n’est pas trop dur au sud du pays. I fear Macron will extend it this evening and schools will remain closed until September. Our two boys are doing fine so far and at least they can play with their friends through the Xbox! To be honest work on the car has,...

Fitting replacement timing gear armed with Jim's guide close by.........The guide is really good ,it's just me  . Trying to put the new gear on is proving a little more fiddly than I hoped  . Keep everything in the correct position and magically each time the crank gear moves just out of...

Essex inlet manifold gasket

Happy Easter gentlemen. Searching on the forum for inlet manifold seating/gasket advice, I see that there is a view that restrictions on the gasket for some waterways should be removed and also I have found a photo showing this and correct fitting / orientation but it is out of focus.Could somebody ...

Sir Stirling Moss

Crikey! He seemed almost immortal, and what a character. Yes, he'd had a good innings but still sad news.

Jim thanks for that . I’ll get into the garage again tomorrow. I’ve got a spare switch to try and yes there is a headlamp relay. Just got to be methodical I guess. Cheers

Electrics are not my favourite job and even less so at this time of year. Due to creeping middle age I've just bought a heater for the garage so sitting in the engine bay surrounded by wiring diagram and all relevant 'kit' plus mug of coffee is much more pleasant :D . Headlamps working but main beam...
