II bought a new carb a few years ago and it was not pinned - I sent it back to weber as the input pipe was coming loose they put threaded pipe in it -they said they did not know about pipes coming out being a problem - I sent them the notification - it was a spanish weber not from china. Check that the fuel input pipe is pinned into the carb - the pipe coming out is the cause of many a Scim or other weber carb'd cars catching fire

Whitley Bay links show tomorrow for our MB - along with other Scimitars. Took the Coupe to Whalton village show today and had it admired twice - which is a record for it.

Reversing polarity will work - I have fitted BX fans to three cars and I don't remember having to reverse he polarity so the fan may have been in front of the rad in the BX
