Emission valve

Just to round this one off. I bought a replacement valve from Burtons and no more sizzle. Evidently the spring in the original had weakened and allowed the valve to "flutter". Not sure this would have any detrimental effect apart from the annoying rattle.

lower wishbone remplacement SE5

Here’s a pic of the 5 and the 5a brackets side by side. I fitted the much stronger 5a brackets to my 5 (SAR) even though you can see the hole in the 5a bracket is a little lower. 9D6C5F16-3F41-4F37-802B-7F0D8D055C24.jpeg The effect on the geo is minimal and can be compensated for by other adjustment...

Emission valve

Thanks Phil, but mine is not the same as the one shown in the manual. There is no circlip and it doesn’t look as if it’s meant to come apart. I’ll have a look at the Burton site and the traders and maybe eBay. Thanks for the info

Emission valve

Hi folks, I've noticed for a while now that when I first start SAR there's what I can only describe as a sizzly, rasping , rattly kind of noise that lasts for a few seconds, then stops for a second or two, then starts the cycle again. Eventually as the engine warms the noise disappears altogether an...

New to the RSSOC - SE6A Plymouth--

Welcome Ian. I'm in Plymouth too and I went through the same process that you're going through now with my SE5 a few years ago. (SAR restoration somewhere in the project thread on here). The South Devon noggin meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at The welcome Stranger in Bickington. There's u...

Lovely red TR4 (would it be an “A” on a B reg?) on the A53 this afternoon, roof down. Unlike most of the Audi convertibles I saw
Not an 'A' Phil. B Reg would be 1964, TR4As came in in 1966. I had an early one which was a D Reg. Would love to find that again

breakdown Recovery AA vs RAC or who?

Just renewed my RAC membership , was £126 , now £168 , rang them told them I was leaving and now £116 for 15 months . It pays to haggle Similar for me only a bit better. I've been with the RAC for 25 years. Renewal this year £156 up from £122 last year. Rang to say I'm leaving, immediately reduced ...

SE5 driver's door lock

Brian, thanks very much for trying, much appreciated, but it looks as if Phil has the right one.
Phil, that looks like the one :hurrah: I'll pm my address to you and catch up maybe at Curbs or even Silverstone?
Thanks a million :D

I'll pm my address directly Phew, what a relief  Er, actually unless the photograph has flipped the picture I think that’s the wrong side! I think they are hand...

SE5 driver's door lock

Thanks :D Failing finding a replacement lock from a 5, perhaps someone knows where there is a 5 rotting away somewhere, or perhaps someone knows from which other car Reliant sourced the lock. Although I realise the chances of finding a lock from that source are even more remote. At the moment I'm lo...

SE5 driver's door lock

I've recently had a little difficulty in closing the driver's door on SAR as it wasn't closing with that reassuring click. Investigating I've discovered that the flat coil spring that gives the springiness  to the latch is broken. Here's a pic IMG_1191.JPG IMG_1192.JPG I suppose the chances of...
