Brake fluid

My Toyota Altezza V8 uses a Saab concentric slave for the clutch connected to the original clutch master cylinder. We used Dot 5.1 in clutch and brakes as it's a track car and tends to get a trifle hot.... The slave cylinder seals kept dissolving in the Dot 5.1 and we removed the gearbox about 4 tim...

7HA LSD

Speak to Quaife or Gripper: https://gripperlsd.com/product/salisbury-7ha/
Will cost you £1,300+ unless you can negotiate.....

Probably cheaper than a 4HA install.

Using van winter tyres on a Scimitar?

If you drive on van tyres in Germany and have an accident you will be prosecuted. Van tyres do not have the appropriate speed rating and proper snow tyres are essential. I wonder where you would stand then, two choices. Tyres with snow markings but Van tyres, or non van tyres but no snow markings? ...

Using van winter tyres on a Scimitar?

Anders, Think you've got a good deal for those tyres and they are a good price. On older vehicles that wore cross-ply tyres from new, it's not unusual to choose a van tyre to benefit from radial handling improvements, but get a similar profile to the cross ply. There is a huge price difference with ...

Springs, Dampers and Bushings

Hi Anders, I've used Protech on my road cars for some time and they are fit and forget. The bright silver alloy is the most common (cheapest) but they can deliver in a variety of colours. They can supply new springs as well. The good thing is that they are happy to serve you from their office and as...

660XYB Engine fix

Alloy Escort MK1 rads are a good fit in a V6 Coupe. Agree with Steve. They are plentiful, available at different quality/price points and work really well with the V6. To avoid the bright shiny alloy look I've sent a couple to Camcoat to have their black paint treatment which they say improves cool...

Shock absorbers for SS1

Protech in Melksham will do a deal for club members too. Fronts are cheaper than rears with springs. I've just replaced all four on the Sabre and I'm really pleased with the results. The rear springs were measured at 200lbs and I've increased to 250lbs without affecting noise or harshness. As Jim su...

Coupe headlamp covers

I have a set of the originals that I bought from Richard Sherwin after he sold his red rally car JET 513F (just sold again recently). They were cut to fit that car, so whilst the o/s fits the apertures on most SE4s the n/s doesn't. Perhaps as a result of a previous repair to JET and the covers being...

Almost ready for paint!

[ Just be cautious, I've had a few of their pictures pop up on my Facebook feed and from what I have seen they do not follow the correct process of fibreglass repairs. Check my post on the rssoc page for the correct process vs the 'bodyshop' way. Alex B Alex, Rich has undertaken work on many differ...

No confusion about FWB 144H. It was Bev Fawkes car with BGF 900G as its private plate. It’s back to it original plate now and I assume Blue Thunder will have Bevs plate if it ever goes on the road.....

Beware the car thieves

I'm with Corky though, if they want the car I want them to take it, without fear of threat or anguish to my family. I disagree. It is because people roll over and give in that these lowlives get away with it. At some point we have to stand up and say enough is enough. Even now most people at the sc...

Beware the car thieves

somebody care to explain why it was thought to be a good idea to have this keyless system please, what was wrong with pressing a button to unlock your precious motor in the first place, can understand the switch from key to fob system, that makes sense, this is why I tend to buy older cars, for one...
