Front bumpers

I would be interested, Chris. I will be requiring new front and back bumpers in a year's time and was budgeting for £700 from Harrington.

Yes, 'scimitargtc' - I hate to think it, but you could well be right as to the cause. I had popped into a shop half an hour earlier, but only for 5 minutes, and in a busy retail park. I vaguely overheard a guy say something about the car, but a bright yellow Scimitar attracting comments is hardly un...

Cheers, Steve. And thanks, 'halfpenny' - I had wondered if there was maybe some sort of physics-related explanation, as it has turned out to be a not uncommon phenomenon. These bits and pieces arrived from Graham Walker today. Does anyone know how much they charge for new brake discs, pads and dust ...

Cheers, Will - I appreciate that. When I got home and actually asked my wife, 'Can I get a hug?' (never before uttered!) before breaking down in tears, that's when I realised I was a bit upset. But now I'm feeling upbeat and motivated to turn this into a positive. An expensive positive, for sure, bu...

Well, indeed, Jim... I have to admit that the misanthropic part of me does wonder about potential foul play... But that's me just finding excuses not to blame myself! I've certainly been discovering that wheel nuts loosening themselves is not uncommon... A timely reminder for all of us gents to chec...

Scottish Pre 67 Ford Day - 1 September 2019

Great photos, Pete - and nice to meet you. It was a great show to round off the season - even if I had to leave Boffin tucked up in her garage...

Did the studs stay intact or did the whole stud separate from the hub?
Yes, the studs stayed intact on the hub. Two were still secure, but two (opposite each other) were distinctly 'shoogly' afterwards.

Sorry to see that Tom. Did the wheel nuts pull through the hub? The backs come off them, it happened on mine, fortunately as I was tightening them. I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'pull through the hub', Jim, but maybe that was it. I have found three of the nuts, and all four of the rings they ...

You're quite right, Colin. I have to remind myself that it could've been worse. Five minutes earlier I was hurtling along on a dual carriageway... it doesn't bear thinking about. I have been puzzling over the cause of the wheel nuts escaping, and I just don't get it. I had fitted those wheels just o...

Well, after seven happy years with my SE5a, disaster struck last week. Half a mile from home, I heard some concerning clunks and knocks from under the car, and the steering felt 'vague'. With no safe place to pull over, and so close to home, I planned to nurse it back. Then, an almighty BANG! I came...

Lovely to see your photos of your trip around Ypres and the Somme. I visited those sites for the first time on a school trip two months ago, and it really was a life-altering experience. Beautiful scenery there too - made only more beautiful by that Scim... :D

Knocking and a-clunking

Just to provide some 'closure' on this one... The 'knocking exhaust downpipe' turned out to be a bit of a red herring. Yes, it was partially to blame for the clunking, and repositioning it has helped. But in the end the culprits were (as many of you initially suggested) the upper wishbone bush mount...

Aww, that second photo almost brought a tear to my eye, and it's not even my car! I'm sure it's in safe hands with Josh. It'd be great to see her returned to her former glory one day.
