Stag is 114.3 - I don't know what JP was referring to?
At a cursory glance I thought they looked like their AC8 wheel...but you will be correct because their imitation minilite can be had in the correct pcd and the silver/ black colours.

MGB wheels on SE5A ?

See John Brown wheels website, look like the ones that are 5.5 and et35...£90 each.
They are modern wheels so the info should be stamped on the back.
...but they are 4 x 130?

Brightwells 28th November

It looks very tidy indeed and a sale within the estimate, say £5k,seems feasible. BUT I tend to think that if the car is as good as it looks then a private sale within this price range would not be difficult. So why the auction? Buyer beware!..you can't detect whining axles, slipping clutches, smoky en...

NEC Classic Car Show - 9/11th November

Didn't the annual " new car" Motor Show terminate at the NEC because most of the manufacturer's withdrew saying the charges were too high?

Late 6a propshaft

It's always been my understanding that the two-piece prop was only fitted to earlier cars and dropped later (possibly because of reliability issues?). Certainly my Oct '78 Man-o/d (owned by me since '96) and my Feb '79 Auto (owned by me since '83) both have single-piece props. However, the parts li...

Oaksey's Straight Six

So is this moving forward as a Concours type/originality restoration,or do you have any mods/improvements in mind?

(Not counting the overdrive and later brakes!)

Both types look good, just make sure the wheel and hub splines are in good condition! ...and if I ever get a car again with knock on wheels (which is very unlikely now, sadly) I would get one of those big spanner devices. Even with the correct type of soft faced hammer the chrome gets damaged,as well ...

Indeed. If you look carefully, you'll see it's well lined up with the overriders and the body curve immediately above it. What he might have 'mis'seen' is the optical illusion provided by the highlight to the upper left of the plate; the highlight looks as if it is rising (giving the NP the appeara...

Beware sending a BACS payment to QRG

It's a horrible situation and it seems now you can't take things at face value. I've just seen the other side of this. I have sold our modern car to a dealer and before finalising he sent me a BACS payment for £1 and I confirmed it duly went in my account,so he could then be happy that the balance ...

After my last purchase, not sure I believe everything a previous owner says, or omits to say! Of course you have no guarantee of the truth from a private owner but you can glean something. A dealer usually has no real knowledge of the car's past and doesn't want to know. I wouldn't think either of ...

The more expensive green one needs a "light respray to the front wings"...which might mean it's just had a cheap paint job which needs redoing properly, and we all know how much a bare Grp,doors and windows off paint job costs. The cheaper mustard 5A has its good points, but a few things that jar...ho...

Car looks good,so do the wheels although not quite "period" as much as such as Minilite reps would be. Don't understand the antipathy towards sun roofs, except the small glass pop up types. A full length Webasto type is a fine amenity,a boon in the summer with no air con. In good condition it shouldn...
