Is a 5A improved over a 5 ?

Taken as a whole the differences are not that significant, which means that it's best to concentrate on getting the best example you can find for whatever you want to spend, that's what I would do.

Scimitar for Sale

After at least two years sat around I suspect the chassis will need work, the interior is shot (dash top, door cards, carpets, dash front, seats, steering wheel, probably headlining too), paintwork is poor, engine looks like its going to be scrap, clutch will be stuck. And so on. I would not be hap...

The adventures of Tom Thumb the daily driver

Nice colour, nice wheels, giving it the correct period look rather than the "too modern " look of the others.

Is the paintwork as good as it seems in the pictures?

2.5 Coupe for sale

TR6 seats?...just a guess.

Many years ago I experienced the 2.5 engine in a Consul (Granada) Estate. Not as much torque but more free revving,as you would expect with the shorter stroke.

I expect at this stage it will need a back to gel coat paint job to be worthwhile.

I would suggest more pictures, including interior and under the bonnet, and details of what was restored as far as you know together with what you believe are the weaknesses now that need sorting.
That should then encourage some genuine enquiries and avoid time being wasted.

Stag is 114.3 - I don't know what JP was referring to?
At a cursory glance I thought they looked like their AC8 wheel...but you will be correct because their imitation minilite can be had in the correct pcd and the silver/ black colours.

MGB wheels on SE5A ?

See John Brown wheels website, look like the ones that are 5.5 and et35...£90 each.
They are modern wheels so the info should be stamped on the back.
...but they are 4 x 130?

Brightwells 28th November

It looks very tidy indeed and a sale within the estimate, say £5k,seems feasible. BUT I tend to think that if the car is as good as it looks then a private sale within this price range would not be difficult. So why the auction? Buyer beware!..you can't detect whining axles, slipping clutches, smoky en...

NEC Classic Car Show - 9/11th November

Didn't the annual " new car" Motor Show terminate at the NEC because most of the manufacturer's withdrew saying the charges were too high?

Late 6a propshaft

It's always been my understanding that the two-piece prop was only fitted to earlier cars and dropped later (possibly because of reliability issues?). Certainly my Oct '78 Man-o/d (owned by me since '96) and my Feb '79 Auto (owned by me since '83) both have single-piece props. However, the parts li...

Oaksey's Straight Six

So is this moving forward as a Concours type/originality restoration,or do you have any mods/improvements in mind?

(Not counting the overdrive and later brakes!)

Goldie the Coupe

Both types look good, just make sure the wheel and hub splines are in good condition! ...and if I ever get a car again with knock on wheels (which is very unlikely now, sadly) I would get one of those big spanner devices. Even with the correct type of soft faced hammer the chrome gets damaged,as well ...
