Re: FYI - heated windscreen draws 35 Amps !

You're supposed to wire the two sections in series not in parallel so you will have 8 amps. Parallel operation is only recommended for say a stage rally car where you want it cleared super quick and is only on for a short time. If on for any length of time it will compromise the plastic layer in the...

I have an RAC05 and bought a 64Gb SD, it comes with an 8Gb. You also get a free update to a speed camera alert.

I noticed that unnecessary verbiage after posting but I couldn't be arsed to edit it. :D :D :D :D
On the other hand, you might have wondered that if I smelled a funny smell inside the house then all hell would be going on in the garage and it wouldn't have been smell but fire engine horns.

Re: Fuel tank taken out

Replace the felt between the tank straps and the tank with rubber. I used Pirelli chair webbing but thinner stuff is available from the likes of Woolies Trim. The original felt is a nice source of wet poultice to promote the rust. If you get round to making a stainless tank in the future then check ...

Re: Earth wiring

I think originally the battery terminal went to a bolt on the forward extension triangle 'tinware'. This is a potential issue for starting since the current flow of the starter then has to go through the bolts holding that 'tinware' on thus an extra chance for rust/corrosion. Its best directly onto ...

Re: Phew

OK will do but its been like that 'forever' in the cold. I get the feeling it has to struggle against cold oil or a tight cylinder. Its the first time I had a no go situation so luckily there must be a self-resetting overheat switch.

Went out to the freezer earlier for something for dinner and I got a faint whiff of a hot electric smell. Traced it to the air compressor. It was a bit hot around the motor. And it won’t run. DISASTER. :( Just been out and checked the plug fuse and its OK Plugged in and powered on and it runs. :D I ...

Re: windscreen sealing - what first ?

Same here I had Autoglass fit mine into the Coupe. They have an electric motor powered goo gun so can maintain an even trail of the stuff. Rubber went into the body aperture then glass into the rubber as previously mentioned. Then sealant injected into both sides of the rubber seal. Then the chrome ...

The relay MUST be in the wrong blue/white line.
Post up a diagram of what you connected to what and how you fed a battery live to the relays.

Re: Front core plug replacement

Try and get some stainless core plugs. I got some 1.5/8" ones for the sides of the Zephyr block. They tend to be supplied for tractor engines. I think a manufacturer was in Kev's neck of the woods and didn't sell retail but they gave me the name of a farm equip place very near me and they got them i...
