Re: Roger's Scimitars - Running Report (?)

Good idea on the bootliner access holes. Having just removed my liner (No holes anywhere in it!) I dont relish doing it on a regular basis! On the indicator stalk train of thought, I wonder if the later metro stalks would fit on? Mine are 'ok' but I do have some metro / maestro/ montego stalks somew...

Re: SS1 - #203

Had another go at bleeding it today, and seems to have worked 8) Not sure how or why, but seems all good :D I ran it for 35 - 40 mins, it got to 2/3rds on the temp guage, and the fan kicked in .... which I was told didnt work, but evidently does. Im guessing that the water simply wasnt in contact wi...

Re: Ben's (waiting) 1975 SE5a

Unfortunatley not as I read into it for that very purpose. It makes quite a point with BOLD CAPITALS that you must only contact them if there is a dispute over ownership / car is or was stolen etc, and not to contact them for any other reason (or words to that effect) At least you know something is ...

Re: Ben's (waiting) 1975 SE5a

Had a letter from the DVLA today Ben, saying someone's applied for a V5 for my car! lol. (The logbook of which I sent away months ago  ) Anyway If I dont object then they will send one to you in 14 days, or words to that effect.

Re: SS1 - #203

when you say it ran for a while - how long? . Well it was already 'warm' from the previous run, but around 15 mins I suppose. Im wary of it running too long as the fan isnt automatic anyway, and with my suspicions of the water possibly not flowing right, didnt want the temp gauge to say all was OK,...

Re: SS1 - #203

Well, my job didnt turn up at work today, so instead of doing the sensible thing and doing another job, I had some time on the car  First I decided to fit some standard rear light lenses, but upon removing them found one of the actual units on the car was broken and they had both been modified...

Re: SS1 - #203

So would an airlock due to the 'missing' bleed valve / plug, cause the symptoms of it emptying its water out after just 5 mins of ticking over?

Re: SS1 - #203

Thanks for all your help :) I'll bear in mind the engine bits thanks Andy. As Roger says, mine has an aftermarket Kent Cam with Adjustable vernier / cam drive wheel which is where my downfall may be if I strip it down  I'll check everything else on the engine on Sunday probably and if the pro...

Re: SS1 - #203

Thanks roger - I'll have to look at it all properly when I get chance, which will probably be the weekend. The bolt as a hingepin is too small and the door drops, but It isnt a major defect to stop the cars use :) Andy - If you find the book it would be great. Ive got a Haynes escort manual somewher...

Re: SS1 - #203

All I know is that its a Kent (So I beleve). My mate messes with adjustable verniers etc on pinto's and has a disc he puts on the end, but not sure what it should be set at etc or whether his guage will work with it. I'll just try the ignition first and see what happens - try and get it all set OK a...

Re: SS1 - #203

Just had an hour this morning for a poke about. Chassis as far as I can see without it going over the pit, is solid. No real rust as I can find apart from some minor surface rust on 1 sill. The sills have been replaced at some point looking at it. Some play in 1 front wheelbearing (I presume these a...
