Re: SS1 - #203

My normal sized 185/60x14 on KN diamonds sometimes rub the rear of the front wheelarches (seems to be most noticable when reversing on full lock) so I suspect it's a fairly common problem. Phew....Thanks! I did hear it do it a couple of times previously, funnily enough on full lock backing into the...

Re: 1987 SS1 Ti

In theory you should be fine, but Id shield it with a piece of wood / aluminium or something else not very flammable just to be safe.

Re: SS1 - #203

Just a bit of rubbing down gone on today. Unfortunatley found some previously undetected osmosis in the bonnet :( The front of the car has had some serious painting over the years...9 different coats plus some laquer!! Thank god for the DA sander!! Also noticed that the outside tread of my front whe...

Re: SS1 - #203

The clock is circular, the elec windows is a 2 or 4 pin rectangular/square plug, not sure offhand what the elec windows are. Do you have a decent photo of the plug you mean? Think it was square - should have taken more notice Jim, but its all back together now so I cant check  No decent pics ...

Re: SS1 - #203

could be the electric mirror plug - it's a small loom from dash to centre console? There's a picture of it in another thread somewhere. I have elec mirrors, and they work so cant see it being that?? Everything works in the car, It was more a puzzle as to what could be fitted that mine hasnt got in ...

Re: SS1 - #203

Dont think the wings have been replaced Jim, as they have 0203 written on them too! (Though its possible I suppose) The wire was just hiding under the fusebox so I thought Im not that lucky, but Ill test it anyway...and hey presto! The other side was there under the heater. I also have an unused plu...

Re: SS1 - #203

Finally got an hour or two on the car again today :D Im not very happy with the rear tyres - borderline legal, hard as hell, and dated 2001. I went to my local tyre shop (Friend of mine) and 195/50's were £80 a pair for Barum's to me, which didnt seem too bad. However I decided to take a detour to a...

Re: SS1 - #203

Ive seen 2 Elise's with removeable wheels, so thought they were standard. Mine of course is 'home brewed' so certainly not standard. Its well made and seems safe or I wouldnt use it - Though not a patch on the ones Ive had in my race cars. Good security device too  Im not keen on the red steeri...

Re: SS1 CVH Silicone hoses

Heres some pics of my early cvh, not sure if you can make it all out or not? Bottom hose goes from water pump to Rad, with a piece going up to the header tank, all rubber. From the back of the water pump is another hose that on mine goes to 15mm copper pipe  than tees off for one of the heate...

Re: SS1 - #203

Thanks Roger. Ive been studying pics of early ss1's and It's hard to tell what blades / arms they are using. Is the wiper system similair to the GTE setup? As in could I pull the cable out a bit & turn the wheelboxes to get rid of the small amount of slack? Though really, I think that isnt really a...
