ANTI ROLL BAR MOUNTING BRACKET

did you try to remove the lower shock absorber bracket without removing the shock absorber with it ? I think it is possible on one side and yes it is very tight. The workshop manual recommends removing the bottom bracket with the shock absorber attached.

GTC front suspension vertical links

I purchased a wheel bearing that came with the thicker felt oil seal. It made the diske sit out further than it should and i had to revert to the old ones. Bearing were the same. Im not sure if there were different ones but i do recall a thread on this topic before. They may off something other than...

GTC front suspension vertical links

The casting nubmer are the same on all of them. The thread for the trunnion makes tgem handed. I good way to check if they are not bent is to fit them to a trrunnion and rotate left and right with the handle of a socket wrench in the top ball joint hole. While rotating there should be no movement of...

Nyloc and castelated nuts on front suspension

you seem to be doing the same jobs as me at the moment Dennis. I presume it has something to do with torquing. The upper ball joint does not have nylock nuts which is different to all other nuts of that size on the front suspension. they do have a spring washer. they may have been used for the upper...

Essex V6 Cooling discussion

I have experienced overheating issues for years(se6a). I had always had issues with one component or another, leaking clogged rad, leaking hoses, leaking thermostat housing, dodgy rad cap, the list goes on. Eventually I found that the head gasket had failed and replaced them along with Rad\silicone ...

GTC lower wishbones

I recently fitted lower wishbones from a early manual se6 to a late PAS se6a. the only difference I could find between the wishbone arms was that the early ones had a extra hole that is unused with plastic bung to stop it filling with dirt.. The later ones did not have this hole drilled out. Car is ...

you can use something like this to clean it out. will be good as new. I would also go for rubber bushes for the bottom.

Scimitar will not start

Are you sure the rotor arm is fitted correctly ? it is possible to close the cap with the rotor arm 180 out. The distributor shaft will spin inside the rotor arm as it gets stuck between two of the points. it wont turn when the cap is fitted but will appear to be working when the cap is off. It will...

Springs, Dampers and Bushings

Its not just the bushes that are different sizes for the later se6a. the bottom of the shock is actually a different thickness. the later ones are thinner. I got some Spax from GW a year or so ago, they dont stock them anymore. had a few issues but ended up going straight to Spax because GW were not...
