38Dgas fuel return

Are you sure it’s not drilled through? If it has a brass fitting it should be (although it’s a very small restrictor hole). If it’s not drilled, it should just be the alloy boss. I have tried 1mm probe and the centre is closed. I was about to install an electric fuel pump and I was going to rely on...

38Dgas fuel return

Yes, I saw from some of your previous posts that you had asked about Se6as  Fuel returns were introduced at *roughly* the point of the Se6/6a changeover. There should be another number on the opposite side of the carb base (the autochoke side IIRC) - it should specify the carb type, eg 38DGAS...

38Dgas fuel return

The Coupe's and 5's do not have a return line - I cannot think it is so important Peter, the first half of your statement is correct, but the conclusion may be the wrong way round - perhaps it was important (especially in hot conditions) and that's why it was introduced in later (approximately Se6a...

Just seems strange to got to all the cost and effort of providing return fuel line to the tank and not using it.

38Dgas fuel return

Curious one. My car has fuel return piping from 38Dgas back to fuel tank but the return fitting on the carb has not been machined through and thus return is blanked off. Is this normal and do I have to drill out the return fitting to allow fuel to return to tank?

Many thanks for your help.

Wing mirrors

My drivers side mirror and plinth are in a very sorry condition and I do not have a passenger door mirror. Has anyone here found a replacement set of mirrors that look good and they would recommend. Not too fussed about having them adjustable from inside car. Thanks in anticipation. Keith

New windscreen is £365 plus VAT
Why is that relevant?
Not relevant but was a surprise. Only 2 listed as available in the UK and a three month turn round schedule for any after they have gone.

Is the car not insured? You only pay the excess for a new screen and it doesn't affect your no claims discount or premium.
That was my other route. Car insured fully comp but has £75 excess for the screen.

SE6A Windscreen replacement.

For a 5a, it’s rubber to body first, then fit the screen. Whatever you do, do not be tempted to cut the seal shorter, thinking it’s too long. It will fit. I did mine, single handed. I won’t do doing one again in a hurry. Might be a different story with two people in the summer, but if a pro is goin...

SE6A Windscreen replacement.

Have to replace my cracked windscreen and at £350 and 3 week lead time I will not be installing a new one. Trying to find a second hand windscreen now.Thinking the GW replacement rubber looks a good option. BUT I have never installed a windscreen before and a pro wants £40 an hour. What is the lates...

But the dizzie won’t rotate? But the car runs.... others will have more wisdom but it has to be catching on something
Only the dizzie body that is seized. Rest appears to be fine though may not be after I have loosened it.

So is the timing actually out ? My own stupid fault really. Car runs fine but I wanted to check that the timing was correct so highlighted timing mark and was going to check static timing first when I found the problem. BUT I could have left it and carried on but NO because it is wrong I have to fi...

Rereading your problem it seems 5he dizzie won’t rotate, then that being the case suggest the clamp bolt (3mm) is not slackened sufficiently
No the clamp bolt is loose and the clamp plate is free and moving easily.
