That is where it came from and where the loom goes. I'm not keen on it either, so may replace it with a sealed one, or even put it into the electronics box. All down to what the customer wants of course.

Also an old carburettor will have worn throttle spindle holes. No amount of "repair kit" will sort that out. Many of my customers who buy new ones from me, have already tried a magic rebuild kit!

Otter switch - how did we get here ?

A hot engine is an efficient engine. Reducing the run temperature will give you knock on effects that are undesirable, including mixture control etc that have all been calibrated for normal temperature.
