EXCEPT 21 which goes to the idle speed control (Y14) and is showing 12v+ :
Many output devices are tied to the engine run or ignition live and modulated via the earthy end of it.

On loan for now, we can discuss things if you need it. I believe that ECU failure is quite unusual by the way.

Send me your address details and I will try to get it out tomorrow for you. Anything else useful?

According to your list Y14 is the engine speed control - I have never looked at it to see what it is/or how it works/or where it is but it might be the Idle Control Valve. In that case Jim is more than likely right in that its a back emf diode - that is to prevent the valve ( solenoid ) chattering ...

Not the ignition lamp though, the alternator needs to have sufficient current through it. An LED may well stop it charging.

That is because the German colour code is sometimes opposite the Lucas one. Browns, plain or with tracers are "earthy", for example a brown/yellow is the speed sender signal, against earth. Blacks are primary ignition control, tracers denote services from it. Red is unswitched live power. Mix that w...

black / blue signifies ignition controlled feed that is only live when the engine is running. I don't think I have come across a blue/black anywhere in the Ford loom.

Replacing rear brake cylinder

7/16" AF I think. Use a proper flare spanner though, not an open end type.

Absolutely agree with Jim and Peter. The SE5 is more suited to manual, as is the SS1. However a cruiser is better suited to a grown up's gearbox. ;-)

Bear in mind that TR7 do not have the illumination window, but you can swap the new innards into the old housings.

Updating ignition?

Just a small caveat... Magnecor leads are very nice, until there is a waranty claim. Their attitude is that the leads are either perfect or have been abused and do not like having to replace leads with loose connectors under warranty.

The Alternator isn't a permanent feed, it should only be live whilst the engine is running.

Swanage, Dorset. Anyone able to get a gearbox?

Just got an A4LD gearbox but just realised it is pickup only! As it is a bit of a trek from Gloucester, I wondered if there is anyone closer that wouldn't mind picking it up for me, either to collect later, or pass it on the network please?
