Sorted. http://www.burtonpower.com/magnetic-sum ... ap-01.html
The sump thread seemed pretty good but I ran a tap through it anyway - the powerful magnet should sort and tiny bits

Magnetic sound good. Would that be a larger thread?

Got my sump plug out with the help of a couple of thin open ended spanners

This is what it looks like!

I just hope there is enough thread in the sump to screw a new one into.
I've read that over size plugs may exist?

Thanks Scimjim I hadn't seen that diagram before. However even there it's not obvious what the bracket (13) bolts onto?
Anyone got one of those extra pulleys?

While I'm waiting for some new 3/6 UNF nuts to turn up for my front suspension wishbones/brackets I thought I'd turn to the engine. I'd had it running very briefly (without any radiator) enough to notice what seems to be good cold (70psi) oil pressure and the compression seemed pretty good at 120psi...

Trunnion Repair Kit

Ah Scimjim thanks for the comment about the LH Rear being correct, as it's being a pain to get off. The problem is with so many of the nuts on this car is that they were never very deep and now the rust has attacked them too so there's hardly anything to get hold of. Just to avoid all doubt it's the...

Trunnion Repair Kit

Thanks. Yes the other side is the same. As far as I can tell the car was made this way albeit with manual steering. I cant' see how the wishbone will fit with the both brackets offset to the rear though. I do not think there was that much slack (~1") in the spring plate. I presume the intention of a...

Thanks that is what I expected but what I seem to have is this Left hand side of left wishbone 2018-05-22 09.06.25.jpg Right hand side of left wishbone 2018-05-22 09.06.33.jpg The left one has its mounting bolts offset to the left but the right hand one is offset to the right. Thus if I swap with th...

Trunnion Repair Kit

Coming back to the lower suspension arm brackets I am now confused because my 1979 SE6A car seems to have one of each type of bracket on the each side of the car. By my reckoning, If I swap left to right I should therefore either finish up with exactly the same arrangement as at present or with a pa...

difficult to understand why the flexi hose does't just go into the caliper direct. Couldn't they get the right threads?
No my braided one doesn't fit direct either, but that's probably just because they were copying the original

probably explains why one trunnion has the hole but the other one does not. I was going to drill and tap it, but shan't bother now. A pretty crude way of doing it anyway.

Thanks very much for those. I had guessed the pad sensor bracket but I see the 'Item 8' arch bracket is the opposite way round to how I have been trying it, but at least I was already using the lower hole On another note Scimjim, I note you dont have a lock limiting knob/lump on your trunnion. Is th...

Thanks. The diagram is not quite as clear as I would like though. In particular what is the 90deg tab with the large hole on the back of the dust shield for? Item 8 in the first diagram: Which way round is it meant to be? Important as the mounting tabs are not at a 90deg angle. Do the mounting tabs ...

does anyone have good picture of the back of th front hub, showing the correct routing of the brake pipes and flexible hoses through various brackets etc?
However I have a goodrige braided flexi set from QRG and It's possible they are not meant to be reouted the same way
