Thanks for that info. I've now refitted mine and it appears that the catch is not attached to the metal frame at all. It seems to be just clipped under the glass and held in by the rubber seal

Ah thanks. I have that plastic thingy as well.
How is the metal part attached? Is it welded or just tucked in behind the glass?

As part of my tail gate work I've dismantled the frame completely prior to redoing with the brass joiner fish plates and silicone rubber stuff from QRG. My only problem now is the catch has come off the frame and I cant see how it is supposed to be attached. Was it welded? I'm not even sure which wa...

Yes that could also be done. A pity I don't have a lock that looks good enough to fill in the hole though. Removing completely it would be a bit cheaper

I've now got on of the stainless handles, a rubber edge seal and a brass repair kit. Spent while yesterday removing the old brittle edge seal
Still can't quite decide on the lock/solenoid question though...

All back together now although the body is not yet bolted down. Polished up the wheels with autosol and those came out better than expected. Fitted now with 205/60 14 tyres seem to look good Even drove the car around our cul de sac! Although reverse gear then failed due to a broken operating lever (...

Lock barrel is now in a sorry state and the outer lock far from perfect 2018-08-08 21.20.48.jpg 2018-08-08 21.20.40.jpg So either a new barrel or an entirely new lock is required. This one cam up in a search for a Dolomite one. Looks pretty similar or this barrel If I can reuse the outher lock looks...

Well I've drilled out the lock barrel, which was indeed very corroded.
So now I just need to find a replacement as the chrome on brass lock body seems reasonably ok

Thanks Ian. Did you pop rivet from the outside of the door? Did you have any problems with clearance to the glass?

Thanks I searched for Top hat Rivet but got deluged with Steam Punk style Top Hats! However I wonder if the correct term might be Cap Rivet - like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Double-Cap-Tubular-Rivets-in-10mm-Two-Piece-Leather-Punk-Craft-Repair-100pcs/272130022306?hash=item3f5c369ba2:m:mASLaxBMl...
