Rattly Bonnet? The Bonnet of my SE6a seems to rattle internally. Am i right in thinking they put a layer of metal mesh inside? I imagine this will be a cause of unnecessary road noise irritation. So I was thinking of drilling a couple of holes in the underside ribs and injecting with builders foam. ...

I did mean the fine details like Ackerman which isn't really about handling anyway, more that it might be possible to find fine improvements along the lines of camber caster, bump, and turning circle Yes even though I've yet to drive mine I see no reason these should not handle. 5 link rear and and ...

Yes that's true. To properly know all the details will take lots of measuring and testing and that will take a while. But I can't help suspecting that the geometry isn't that perfect anyway, even in standard form since as I understand it it was 'borrowed' from another car(s) (TR5/6) that was narrowe...

The suspension geometry element defined by the mounting of the lower arms is Caster, which is top to bottom hub axis inclination as viewed from the side basically and is about self centring. The PAS setups have more caster in order to avoid feeeling too light and floaty. Turns lock to lock is define...

While Tracking is of course a function of steering arm length, any change would easily be compensated for by track rod end adjustment or even shortening or lengthening the track rods themselves. I was thinking about the steering arm thing further last night and realised that steering arm length coul...

Roger - yes that's what I meant. I didn't know the turning circle was different between PAS and manual - and it would be great to decrease that! That also means that the PAS rack is not as 'Quick' as I thought. I wonder how many turns it would be if it could get the same steering angle as the manual...

I see what you mean but it does depends which way you look at it. :)
I was thinking Higher=Quicker and actually the ratio as seen from the rack end really is a higher number - ie 1/2.5 is a higher number than 1/4.7

Thanks for that. It's possible I'd seen it before somewhere but link lost..... My 6a did not have PAS. Although I now have fitted a PAS rack I have not yet plumbed it in but am quite honestly expecting it to leak everywhere if/when I do. However this was only part of the reasoning. The other part is...

I'm a bit slow to notice you answer again...

So could I ask how the motor end of the MGF column is supported in your installation?
I found a pic of the MGF column and there appears to be a large bracket - so is that fixed to the bulkhead by any chance?

I think I see. So the mounting to the inner wing is purely to support the bulkhead mounted bearing. A bit surprise that the bulkhead was not though to be strong enough on its own for that. Normally there is just a blob of fibreglass I believe So there is not an extra bearing supported in what would ...

Just seen this. I was trying to work out what I was looking at - but it;s a view from underneath I think. You seem to have a Lambda sensor...
There seems to be a bearing mounted on the bulkhead? Is that it?
It would b good to see the other side too
