SS1 Fuel Pump Query

Okay just looked back - in out and return. G97 didn’t have one when I got it so I guess it works fine without it?

Certainly not vacuum though.

SS1 Fuel Pump Query

I can't imagine why a carb engine fuel pump would need a vacuum? does the pipe come from the inlet manifold or carb?

someone posted a picture of a CVH pump with a bypass line recently (second return basically) - never seen (or needed) one myself :-)

Which rear wheel brake cylinder piston diameter?

I believe that the Girling cylinders are 7/8" but I can't find any mention of slave cylinder diameter in the 6 parts or workshop manuals. I'd probably phone Nigel at QRG (although I would have bought them from him in the first place :-))

be really, really careful on corners, edges and swage lines with a DA Harry - it's easy to round them off and then you end up with different profiles each side (such as the top of the wings) and you have to build it back up and sand again!

MOT changes

Just checked the brake pad warning bit: Some vehicles have a warning light on the dashboard to indicate that the brake pads are becoming excessively worn. This lamp may be a multi-function lamp which also illuminates for other reasons, such as the handbrake being applied. Tester’s must therefore ens...

MOT changes

New manual coming out soon - here’s the special notice with a link to the draft. Terminology changes from fail and advisory to major or minor fail. I think the main changes that may affect us (without DPFs, DRLs & EMLs) are handbrake travel, brake fluid contamination (but the tester can’t remove the...

Which colour looks best?

I spoke to Terry Cox - he still had the paper work for the last repair he did and it was Nissan leaf green metallic code 719. I've also learnt it has John Wade big valve heads (but no roller rockers) and a mild cam upgrade. :) Excellent - although that Aston colour’s lovely too. This “DB6” may be t...

I’ve added some of the better pictures from your gumtree advert Ewan.

Some may say £2k is strong money for a car that’s been laid up for so long - but I sincerely hope you get it.

Which colour looks best?

I disagree - all of its racing history is in green. Yes paint it blue if you’re going for a rebuild in full “as original condition” or a.n. other colour if you’re not bothered about originality or history.
