Leaking coolant

Okay, so a later engine - access is improved if you remove the exhaust manifolds but quite simple even with them in place.

A car guy would probably have SORNd it rather than risk a fine later?

Also tax date of 17th indicates the record was updated mid-month, which isn’t good.

Is your dipstick on the front cover, or the side of the engine?

Side core plugs in the block are easy to change, the ones in the ends of the heads are harder (can be done in situ but not easy).

And there’s obviously no MOT history online because it’s last MOt was pre 2006 or so, when it became computerised.

What’s the voltage at the CPS?

Edit - whilst cranking I mean
cant remember if I checked it while cranking but full battery voltage with ignition on. What would low/no voltage during cranking indicate other than driver failure?

So it’s back in one piece and I fitted the alternator tensioner - but it still won’t start. Spent almost all day checking the wiring and came to the conclusion that the injector drivers are toast. I have fuel pressure and can jury rig a supply to make the injectors fire, I have continuity from each ...

The BMW ones (and I think most others) need modifications to the thread to fit. It would be good to pick a modern car that we might find replacements for in years to come, and fit that thread? I found the hood stiffeners and a dead trailing arm - who’s passing Gloucester on their way to Plymouth in ...

I have two diffs with bolts siezed in - been spraying them with various release agents for years (tried heat too) and they still resist the scaffold tube on a breaker bar!

Another few hours today with Phil’s help after we’d moved everything out to get C686 out and put them all back.

Unfortunately we have a lack of fuel and a sluggish starter, so still plenty of work to do tomorrow if it’s going to make test day.

FIA spec battery switch (which come with alternator protection and remote pull if you need) don’t bother with cheap ones, the contacts will corrode/arc and leave you stranded one day.

I almost ertainly have a scrap one you could have to copy. I’m sure GW/QRG would be interested if you could remanufacture them at a reasonable price.

Unlikely to be internal memory - we post in this sub-forum so that Ian can pick up a single thread rather than half a dozen PMs.

I had a blank screen a couple of times today at the farm and assumed it was a poor signal (although it’s not done that before) - pressed refresh and the page appeared.
